hi Electric,

As hebeda mentioned, only Atheros-based cards work. The one you're trying to use has an Intersil Prism chipset and AFAIK will not work at the moment.

Hello All,

I'm trying to use a couple of PCMCIA network cards. They are:

3Com Etherlink III 3C589C , and
Xircom IIPS

When I run "lspci" these cards don't appear at all. But they do run fine when I was using Windows 98 on the same laptop.

Anyone know what might be wrong?

Been trying to get my old laptop to work. The internal mini pci card (3com) works but the Dlink DFE-690TXD in the PCMCIA slot doesn't work although it shows up. I think it uses the Realtek driver.

Here is the lspci output.

Greetings Brian, is this card destined to be supported? I don't see anything about it in the newest 2.6.20-rc3 kernel tree.

None of the boxes I looked at last night at Staples give any clues as to what chipset is in the device, so throw me a lifesaver in the form of a brand name to buy so I can get the right one next time I'm in town, in this case in about 1.5 hours I head out.

Thanks & Cheers, Gene

I am using a Soekris net4521
This is running x86 version from 02-12-2007, as the 02-16-2007 version locks up and won't completely boot. The wireless card that isn't working for me is a Senoa NMP-8602 Plus (FCC) LFP MiniPCI card. The wireless page on the web interface shows but the only buttons are "Save Settings" and "Cancel Changes." I am hopeful this card will work soon since it is an Atheros card...

Code:
00:11.0 Ethernet controller: 3Com Corporation 3c905 100BaseTx [Boomerang]

Thanks BS if you have time to add this adapter in -- this is junk heap hardware but hopefully at least sufficient enough to test-drive x86.

3c905 detection is inside - it should be detected. Check lsmod if driver (3c59x) is loaded
Added detection of sis900.

Asound a-3500 RTL8100 nic +4 port switch

Found to work with Slackware version 9.1, using the 8139too.o driver, as a 4-port Ethernet card
