Have you tried erasing your nvram back to defaults so its boots to a fresh configuration? Sometimes the restore to factory defaults in Webgui does not work. You have to manually login to the terminal with the command of "erase nvram" then use reboot command to restart the system.

It will rerun a detection on a fresh configuration that is only done the first boot with fresh nvram config. But you may have to enable USB core first.

Or try these commands at the terminal prompt after enabling USB core.

rmmod ax88179_178a

then

modprobe usbnet

If this makes it work again. Go to the administration section then click on commands.

Click Edit for Startup

Copy and paste those commands so it looks like this.

rmmod ax88179_178a

modprobe usbnet

Then click save startup. Then go ahead and try a reboot. During startup it will run those commands to make it work at every startup.

in general for routers nvram reset is done by nvram erase command...instead of "erase nvram"..
but, dont know how it goes to x86 / x64 PC routers systems... Rolling Eyes

It could be flipped as you said. I am just trying to go by what I remember. I don't use that command often to get it right the first time.

Running the free VGA build with the Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. B85M-D3H board, 4770K 4 core 8 thread gen 4 cpu. Speedstep enabled. 16GB ram, Several HDD as a NAS and a Realtek 6 port 2.5Gbps for LAN and Onboard Realtek for WAN.

This build seems to be more stable than previous version. So far it's been up for 22 hours.

No reset.

Seems to be working ok.

i even didn't think about that part....

rmmod showed that driver is not loaded, so I did
1. insmod ax88179_178a

ip addr show now shows me eth1, but its down, so I did
2. ifconfig eth1 up

Putting these 2 command on top of my startup is working, but obviously eth1 comes up too late to get part of br0.

I know, that also can be fixed by hand, but it's just a pain and maybe there is other stuff not running properly because of the late up-status of eth1.

Ok I would just enter commands to restart services or load things that are not working after those commands. Your getting somewhere at least right?
