Is this a complete overkill and am I dumb for spending under $200 for this upgrade?

I have a Gigabyte 1150 B85M-D3H with an i3 4160 but have an i7 4770k coming for it.
16GB ram @ 1600MHz. Going to use the onboard Ethernet as WAN and a 6 port 2.5Gbps card pci-e 4x card with the RealTek RTL8125 chipset for the LAN. I believe it is supported now. Let me know if I am wrong. The specific card I am getting is here. https://www.ebay.com/itm/285510296949 I know that realtek is considered low end for networking that Intel is better for CPU useage. To be honest I couldn't see a difference in the ones I had for the PCI style of many years ago. I know the i7 4770k will not be bothered by a such of a card.

i guess first you must be sure if its driver supported from DDWRT side...and DDWRT firmware recognizes it during boot process...but im not yet familiar with x86 DDWRT systems...better ask the main developer...or wait for an post reply here... _________________ Atheros

It works perfectly at 1Gbps due to all the hardware only capable to work at 1Gbps. All 6 ports work. Now off to upgrade to 2.5Gbps capable NIC cards for the systems I have. Need to switch the cables from Cat5 non E to Cat6 now.
The 4770K cpu works perfect too all 4 cores with HT for 8 threads is working as expected.
