WRT54G V6 No gui when i got it

I think someone else messed with this unit before I got it so I can't say what was on it to begin with

I have been trying to get back to the linkssys firmware or get DD-WRT installed but unsuccessful so far

I can get it to respond to a ping with TTL=100
continuously all day long but I cannot get into it via Telnet or IE
I have done the 30/30/30 repeatedly and using TFTP attempted two different Linkssys firmware versions
I have tried VXworks Killer and prep and tried loading DD-WRT V24 Micro_generic per the TFTP instructions
Any ideas on what I can do to get into this beast?
I have read the Wiki and the Peacock but just not finding what I need on this beast
I am thinking the NVRAM is corrupted
I have tried multiply times now over 3 days to get into this beast

Without knowing if you have a cfe or vxworks on it, you can't tell which firmware to flash. Simple solution would be to load a CFE on it with jtag. See the jtag wiki article.

I don't have a Jtag cable setup yet
Is there a way of trial and error to try and get one on it?

it seems you have tried everything. Jtag is in your future so you can't do any harm at this point.

Pretend that dd-wrt is on it. Run the revert routine. If that works, you can then flash the stock linksys firmware, then install dd-wrt again.

In the mean time, order a jtag cable.
