I'd like to add that sometimes shopping online isn't the cheapest when it comes to sub $100 hardware. I got my WRT54G at Fry's for $39.99 on sale after $10 rebate. It's a v5 unfortunately, but runs DD-WRT just fine since the workaround.

Under the category : Fastest DD-WRT Compatible Wireless Router, there should be the Buffalo WZR-RS-G54 since it has the same CPU speed as the other 2 but ups the RAM to 64MB. It's a beast.

yes. but the WZR has a bad cfe and has some hardware bugs. the network of the asus premium and the wrtsl54gs is faster too since the buffalo wzr uses a much older chipset

Is there a DD-WRT compatible Router (except the old WRT54GS models) available with 32MB RAM and 8MB Flash?

Thank you.

Hi,

I have heard there are two versions of the buffalo router:
WHR-G54S-1 and WHR-G54S-2
Is this true, and if so, can you please tell me what are the differences?
Which one is being sold here?

Thanks.

UPDATE
Just spoke to Buffolo. They said they are exactly the same, "1" = uk plug, "2" = "european"

Is the Asus WL 500 G premium capable of attaching an usb printer so that the printer can be used as a network printer?

If so, i would think it to be a good replacement of my linksys wrt5g that does not have any usb connector.

Should i take the premium version instead of the deluxe version?

I think the premium is newer, better?

I suggest the Asus WL 500 G Premium replaces the 500 G Deluxe in the first post. It is indeed the sweet spot right now for a router with USB and powerfull CPU and removable antenna : 8MB flash 32MB RAM and CPU at 266Mhz.

Looks pretty good as a Linksys WRT54GS replacement.

Are there any hardware inside pictures and/or reviews available?
Is it supported by DD-WRT? V23SP1 or V23SP2?

Thnx.

Please elaborate.
I'm buying one tomorrow.
If I use the latest firmware from Buffalo Tech,
is there any reason I should have a problem
using this for normal end-user wireless and
VPN use at home?

Viel Danken!

everything is supported by DD-WRT from scratch. you dont need to buy such a overpriced router. dont await too much from the buffalo firmware. they are not good at all. thats why i wrote this alternate firmware here. (okay on of the reasons)

I won't be using DD-WRT on this router. I'm buying it for someone who needs the simplicity of

(1) Buffalo's "AOSS", which is the push-one-button wireless security configuration

and

(2) the simplified VPN.

This is why I'm (still) asking you...

Do you have any reason to believe that this product will malfunction for an "ordinary" home-user?
