So any updates to this thread? My wrt54g v2.2 router quit working on me so i am on the lookout for a new one. I checked and the asus wl-500g is not available at any stores as it is discontinued.
What are some other suggestions that work well? I was using the full version on the wrt54g since it had enough ram for it.. i would like to use it on my new router too.
What's wrong with the Linksys WRT54GL?
I have the Buffalo Whr-hp-54g and it works great.
Reluctant to get N router until it is finalised and dual band at least.
I have been very disappointed by the Belkin final N routers. I find the Buffalo hp-54g routers excellent. In my experience, they blow N away big-time. I can only imagine the Buffalo devices have particularly low noise high gain amplifiers.
Just want to let you know you can get a $20 mail rebate until november 30 on ASUS WL-520gu
I currently purchasing a WL-520gu for less then $30 Canadian dollars ($25 us)

Hello everyone, I apologize for the super-noob question, but I've been surfing these forums and I'm still not sure what the latest answer is (as much of this thread is a bit old).
What is the fastest and best router for the fully packed everthing-included DD-WRT package? I don't care about price, I want performance and all the wonderful features of DD-WRT.
Last I read in this thread most think it is the ASUS WL-500g premium? or is there something newer?
I also like the idea of putting it on a old PC box with two GbE ports, but I'm apparently not skilled enough to make this happen. I kinda got it installed but couldn't figure out how to get the web interface up right away (I'm bad at command line, too spoiled over the years ). Is there any kind of no-brainer tool coming that would create a USB boot drive, or do all the steps to completely image a hard drive with it web interface ready?
Oh, the WL-500W does look newer than the 500G premium. But THIS page shows WL-566gM . Which is a higher model number, but I don't know if the hardware is faster other than it looks like they are doing 40Mhz channels for more speed. This 566 model isn't showing in the router-database (search for ASUS). It is shown on newegg here
So maybe the WL500W is a tad better than the WL500G premium. Anyone got some input?
I was wondering if it would be possible to, maybe not in the forum, but produce a poll list of all the supported routers to allow people to vote for which model they belive to be the best?
From a personal point of view, I am interesting in getting a roueter to run this on, as well as just generally interested in peoples opinions.
I think that someone can make a kind of voting system, which will show the result instantly.
But then the problem will be the representative of certain router maker, who pretend to be a happy user.

There are too many routers.
The list is too long and wants me go for something else.
I just want an N-router that can handle much torrent traffic with a decent price, not the cheapest rather the one that gives the best bang for the buck.
How can I find this information without googling for a couple of days checking against the immensive list of routers?
As a customer I'd like a list where I can filter on the newest routers, the ones that support 802.11n and other important features. I'm not really interested if it is a linksys, asus or something else, I care about what it can do for me.
Is there something like this today? All I've seen is large tables of routers and a database where I can see supported routers, but no filtering.
