I have used DD-WRT on a Linksys WRT300N for a couple of years now and love it. Very stable and no issues, much better then factory firmware. Anyway, I have a few old PCs on a shelf collecting dust, so I decided to try a DD-WRT x86 build. After failing on the first 2 attempts, I was able to get it working on a 10yr old HP with a 933Mhz P3 machine with onboard NIC. After testing it for 2 weeks I decided to purchase a Professional Activation and activated the system this morning.
I have a monitor, keyboard and mouse attached and could not login to the system this way. I was able to login and access using the WEBUI. Not wanting to post a repeat, I searched the forum and found a couple of post saying I may have upgraded incorrectly, by not resetting the system before and after the upgrade. I removed the HDD and connected to a LINUX box which said the drive was unreadable. I moved it to my MacBook which also stated the drive was unreadable and required initialization. You guessed it, I could not backup the Ext4 partition, containing the activation key. Wanting to fix this and do a proper install I initialized and started over, reinstalling the software. Now I am getting a different System Key making my original Activation Key invalid.
Long story short… Can a new activation key be issued? Before I do this, I would like to fix the login issue. What would cause not being able to login using the attached monitor and keyboard? Now I can't get to the login prompt until I enter a new activation Key.
