Hi all,
this is my first time here:) I really hope that somebody here can help me...

I've bougth a router from dealextreme, URL to the router: https://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.29662.

I know from reading in this and others forums that this router can run with Aceex NR22/Y firmware and DD-WRT.

My problem is that I tried to install DD-WRT and it got bricked. I downloaded the aceex nr22 firmware from the dd-wrt side and installed the firmware throw the webinterface. After installing the firmware i dont get any contact with the router. The only led light that is on is the power led. When I connect the a Ethernet cable to the lan port notting happens... I have tried the hardreset but again notting happens...

I guess the firmware didn't install properly. Is is any way I can reinstall the firmware again? I have attached a picture of the inside of my router. I'm a bit uncertain if it is possible to connect a serial connector on this board.

This might be the serial port - the 4 points circled.

Can't tell - but you might be able to hookup a a multi-meter and see what's +V, GND,
and then take a guess at TX/RX - luckily its only 4 points to guess at!

Hi,

I think you right. I will try to connect it to a serial connector. I guess I need to install a boot loader but I don't know where I can find it.

I hope that somebody can help me coz I abit lost on how and where to find a boot loader...

Cheers Arvind

You don't need a bootloader as it's unlikely you have overwritten it, you're looking at a complicated jtag recovery if you have. The pinout for the serial is easy to work out (I'm not near my router but it's straight forward) through the console you can do a tftp recovery. I've had to do this myself. You can flash any compatible firmware but remember to do an nv-ram reset, I've found I end up with all sorts of problems if I don't.

Hi!

I hope you are right that my boot loader is still working. The only reason for me thinking that the boot loader had been overwritten is that noting on the router works. Not even the LAN ports...

I have made a serial connector to RS232 but unfortunately I'm not able to test if this work before this weekend because I'm not home...

So basically I will get a menu up in tftp when I connect to serial pin? Or do I have to run/install a program i tftp?

I not a expert so I hope had you could be a bit more specific

Google is your friend!

ftp://ftp.zyxel.by/

IS the Belarus FTP site.

ftp://ftp.zyxel.com/

The USA site has a LOT more ftp data though.
