Greetings. I have a Linksys WRT54G-TM with DD-WRT v.24 pre-SP2 (build 13064). Lately I have noticed that my wireless speeds are significantly lower than the speeds on my wired computer. I have 2 wireless clients: a laptop with a Broadcom internal wireless card and a desktop with a Belkin USB wireless dongle. Both wireless computers run at about 25% of the download speed that I get from the wired desktop. The uploads on the wireless computers seems to be comparable to the upload on the wired unit. I don't believe I have any out-of-the ordinary settings on the wireless portion of my DD-WRT router. Has anyone seen similar issues? Any ideas? Thanks.

Alden...nice to see you back once again....13064 has some known wireless problems. See the Recommended build announcement at the top of this forum for the most "Stable" build....13525 is still the last build that had the fewest problems.

Thanks, Redhawk. I'm slowly trying to get back into the swing of things. I managed to upgrade my Fonera from RC4 to a pre-SP2 version using my serial connection. I'd forgotten a lot of it, but it's coming back as I delve further into it.
I've downloaded the mega generic of the build you recommended (13525). I do see where the build I'm using (13064) has known wireless issues. I guess I should have looked there first. I'll upgrade my router when I get back from the store. Is there any reason I can't use my backup .bin from the build I have installed (13064)? Thanks again!

Yes...there have been several variable syntax changes since that old 13064 build. (I can't remember the exact changes with each build though)...but I don't recommend you use an old backup.
Maybe Barryware will chime in here too...he's done a lot of work with the TM units. He might be able to recommend the most stable build for that unit.
Alden...if you need anything as you are coming up to speed...just ask.

I heard my name mentioned
I went from 12874 which I still think is the best build to date to 13577. Only reason I changed is because there was some work done by one the the devs to fix the operation of the router with an sd mod. A new, faster mmc driver was added.
Currently, my tm which is my gateway is running 14473. I am having problems with this build (also 14471) with optware (asiablock) and access restrictions added through the gui. I'm still trying to figure it out so I am still running 14473. One or the other work.. not both.
imo.. the best build for a tm is either 12874 (my favorite), or 13577. 13525 is also a rock solid build but I believe that still has the old mmc drivers compiled into it. I didn't run it for long.. _________________ [Moderator Deleted]
Thanks for the replies. Since I have an SD mod, I'll go with 13577 and see how it works. Guess I'll have to start from scratch with the set-up. Oh well! Thanks again.

OT, but I already thoroughly explained why frater's script interferes with AR filtering rules. The "state RELATED,ESTABLISHED" rule he puts at the top of the chain breaks the AR filtering (but not "denying"). _________________ Read the forum announcements thoroughly! must'a missed that _________________ [Moderator Deleted]
OK, I installed 13577 and I absolutely could not get my wireless clients to connect to the internet. I used the same settings I've always used and I just couldn't get beyond the router with the wireless clients. I tried static leases and DHCP with no luck. I started over and installed build 13525 and had no problem with the wireless clients....other than I don't see much difference in speed over build 13064. Not sure what else to do. I was going to try build 12874, but I don't know where to download it. Anyone have any ideas? Where do I find these other builds to download? All I can find is the Router data base with like 4 builds, none of which are the ones mentioned here. Thanks again.
I have been using DD-WRT v24-sp2 (07/22/09) mega
(SVN revision 12548M NEWD Eko) on my TM since last July. Rock stable build.
I should mention that I have not modded my TM with the SD Mod. So that might come into play on whether or not this is the best build for you. _________________ WRT54G-TM (Gateway) std-nokaid-build 14929

OK, I downloaded 12874 and 12548. I'll try 12874 first since Barryware says that's the best build for the TM. I do have the SD mod but am really not using it at the moment. My goals are stability and getting my wireless clients to have speeds similar to my wired clients. I really appreciate all the help. Thanks.
