So this will be a 2 step process now, have to flash the trailed mini for whichever E~ series unit you have, then upgrade using the nv60k.bin's if you want to use something more than mini. More info in the link i posted. _________________ Wireless N Config | Linking Routers | DD-WRT Wiki | DD-WRT Builds | Peacock - Broadcom FAQ
Just a note on upgrading e2000, e3000 and e4200 routers already running dd-wrt. These need -nv60k.bin builds, but this will work only from now on. So for initial upgrade use proper mini-eXXXX.bin build and then upgrade with -nv60k.bin build
I'm new at all of this and have been browsing the forums but I can't find a specific answers to the following questions:
Can I just update to the 16773 build via Administration>>Firmware update (Firmware management section in DD-WRT UI)?
If yes, then are my settings reset? Can I backup my settings form 15508 and restore under 16773?
Can this be done via WiFi or does it have to be through ethernet cord?
I appreciate anyones help in this matter.
For upgrading from 15508, you would need to flash the trailed mini of 16773 for the E3000 first, then afterwords you can upgrade to the nv60k.bin for 16773 BIG that you posted. More info in the first post on this page that i linked info to.
I had a new issue after I upgraded to 16758 on my E2000 -- for some reason, I get nothing but transmit errors when I enable WPA or WPA2 -- or when I change the network name from dd-wrt to the old name. I change it to some random unused name and it shows up just fine. I've done a number of factory resets and reflashed 5 times but I'm stuck on what's going on. Google and searching here was less than productive. The only other thread about people getting just transmit errors said that it worked itself out after 30 minutes. Any ideas?

I had a few newbie questions relating to the E3000 and DDDWRT. I've been using an E3000 I bought from Walmart. It connects to an 8 port switch and a dozen or so home automation devices (cameras, IR controllers, serial port servers, etc...)
The speeds were fantastic when I first installed the router. Even the internal webpage I use on touchscreens to control my home was much faster at loading (on LAN and WAN both). Then at some point, my speeds slowed down with in a week (became unuseable for browsing the net) and I had to perform a restart on the router to fix the issue. Per other sites with 100's of users having the same issue, I disabled UPnP (unacceptable to have to do this) and changed the MTU on the router to fix the issue. We'll see if the issue comes back, but I really need UPnP so I'm either going to return the E3000 or use DDWRT on it.
I can't live with restarting my router as I need my home automation system (entirely networked based) to be available 24/7. Has DDWRT fixed the E3000 slowdown issue for others on here? Can I leave my router on for months and not touch it if I use DDWRT? What's the longest you've ran DDWRT on the E3000 and what is the most stable version? Any dropped connections when using the DDWRT? Should I just return the E3000?
currently I am running E3000 on DD-WRT v24-sp2 (07/28/10) std-usb-ftp - build 14853M NEWD-2 K2.6 Eko and I am experiencing with stability of wi-fi connection (sometimes it's not possible to connect to the AP and I need to "Apply settings" at any Wireless settings so the wi-fi is back up).
I would like to upgrade to a newer version but I'm unsure if I need to flash any mini build first or not. And I would also like to ask what is currently the most stable build that supports printer sharing on usb, possibly with more stable wi-fi?

Do I still need to flash the firmware "14929 E2000 Trailed Initial Flash Build" as stated in the WiKi in order to use the dd-wrt.v24-16785_NEWD-2_K2.6_std_usb_nas-e2000.bin on a virgin Linksys E2000?
What does the description "Cisco Linksys E2000 v1 Firmware - Special file for initial flashing" mean?

I have a Windows machine on my network which connections to the VPN server just fine, I just cannot get the PPTP built in client in DD-WRT to do the same.
Locking this thread. It has become fridge mold. It was initially to announce the availability of the e3000 e2000 but has morphed into a mess of anything and everything e2-3k. Most of the info here is or should be in the wiki for these routers and/or the announcements at the start of the broadcom forum. People are repeating the smae questions repeatedly as noone is going to go through a 75+page thread. Time to kiss this one good bye.
For those stumbling onto it, read the last few pages, the wiki and the broadcom forum announcements. IF they don't address your particular question, create a NEW post in the forum. _________________ SIG:
