Hi all,

Does anybody discovered low link speed issues and is this a know problem?

I ran the E3000 with official firmware 1.0.02 and tried the latest DD-wrt eko build 14853M big.

I can't get higher then 75Mbps only very incedently the link will start at 150Mbps and directly drops back to 75Mbps on the wireless at 2.4Ghz. (See also attachment)

I tried this with a laptop with a Atheros AR9285 and a laptop with a Intel 5100 wireless networkadapter running the latest driver under windows 7.

I don't have this issue when I replace the E3000 for a WRT320N, WRT610N or WRT160NL.

The distance is 3 till 4 meters in the same room without any other obstacles in between.

Regards,
Manta23

So my dropouts have stopped after making the changes in my previous post, however, it does take my laptop a few tries before it connects to the e3000 after getting home from work. I am thinking that may be more a driver issue on the laptop than a DD-WRT issue at this point.

Hi all,
So, after a little fiddling around, I have a usable e3000 using the latest firmware (I think) of dd-wrt by ek0, 14853.
Here's the problem:
I have two routers, the dsl gateway, which also acts like a b/g router, and the e3000. The wireless on the dsl gateway/router works perfectly fine, as well as the LAN. The e3000 is hooked up to the gateway. They way I have my e3000 set up is that I only have my 2.4GHz AP on, and the 5GHz off. It has WPA2 AES encryption. The ethernet connections works fine, but the wireless will not for the life of me work.
My ideal solution would be to have both routers displaying the same SSID on the 2.4GHz band, and a different SSID for the 5GHz band on the e3000. Could someone point me in the right direction? I'm pretty new to this whole thing.

Please reply and tell me if you need a config file or additional information!

Thanks,
Paravorheim

Here's what my Wireless N 5GHz connection looks like. Hope this helps. The other thing I did was update my wireless N adapter's driver.

Note that I think you have to use AES and WPA2 for wireless N according to the wireless wiki.

Ive been having lots of odd issues with my E3000.

I never used the stock firmware, immediately loaded the latest DD-WRT test build onto it. Sometimes, when loading pages in a browser, the browser sits there for 10-20 seconds, then randomly decides to load the page. It USUALLY loads just fine after that.

Also, there have been some intermittent drop outs, and other odd issues...

I going to do a 30/30/30, load the stock firmware, 30/30/30, configure, then test that out...

I just noticed that BrainSlayer has built the E3000 firmware, does anyone tried this build?

Updated my 'e2000' to the latest Brainslayer 14929 std. Everything seems to be working most excellent with this build, will post back any negative findings. thanks dd-wrt devs!

Tried the Brainslayer 14929 std and big both on me e2000, and they seem to work well. Previously reported dim wireless LED looks like it's been fixed.

I've got wireless N, but the wireless status on std shows "130 Mbps" as the rate. Additionally, when copying from a wireless N to a gigabit connected PC, I'm getting transfer speeds of 6-8 MBps. At 130 Mbps, shouldn't I be getting around twice that? And shouldn't I be connecting close to 300 Mbps anyway?

Erm yes but are you running mixed mode 20mhz?

Yes, because I'm a noob. Should I change it to something else? Is there a wiki page on this?

upgraded to the latest BS 14929, looks great so far.

wl0: BG-Mixed / Wireless Channel 11 / disabled Wireless SSID Broadcast. I ma able to get 54Mbps.

wl1: N-Only / Wireless Channel auto / Channel Width 20MHZ disabled Wireless SSID Broadcast. I can get 300Mbps. ( 108Mbps- 126Mbps most time )

I noticed only one issue I have is the bandwidth script doesn't work on E3000 for both BS and eko builds. I was able to use the exactly same script on WRT-150N (flashed the BS14929 or eko's dd-wrt.v24-14853_NEWD-2_K2.6_big-e3000)

I was under the impression the light was amber because it indicated an error with Wi-Fi Protected Setup. Since DD-WRT doesn't support that function, it throws up an amber light.

How do you go about changing that amber light to blue? Is it done through a command? I couldn't find anything off-hand in a quick forum search, and couldn't find a setting in dd-wrt.

Yellow cisco led on Linksys routers means that router got WAN ip. If you prefer it blue (white, ..) do:

In latest builds only (13522+):

nvram set connblue=1
nvram commit
reboot

That command turns my cisco LED on the E3000 to blue =)

All that command did was reboot my E3000. Amber light is still amber.

To make it work right, you will need to enter these commands over a telnet session. (You will need to enable telnet through web interface) Here's how (This assumes you have a telnet client in windows, if not, skip steps 1&2, u will have to figure out how to do this in putty)

1. Click Start and run (In Vista and 7, simply type cmd and hit enter), then type in cmd. Hit enter.
2. Type in: telnet 192.168.1.1 and hit enter
3. Username is root (Always root, no matter what the username used to access the webGUI is) and the password is the same as your WebGUI password (Note: on most telnet clients, you will not see anything while typing in your password. This is normal.)
Hit enter after entering the username and then again after entering password. Now you should see a big DD-WRT text graphic and a command prompt underneath.
4. Type in (<Enter> means you are to push enter, no type it in): nvram set connblue=1 <Enter>
nvram commit <Enter>
reboot <Enter>

You will be told connection is lost, as the router will reboot now. After it starts back up, the light should turn blue.

I just upgraded, appears to work fine. The VLAN page still shows 100 Mbit as the max speed. It would be nice to see that upgraded & working at 1000 Mbit
