Is there any advantage of changing the Channel Width to 40mhz? Also what is the deal with two wireless physical interfaces? Is that the dual bands of the E3000? Should they both be enabled?

Quick question regarding the WRT610N vs. E3000.
Can I use the DD-WRT WRT610Nv2 firmware on the E3000? The hardware specs look exactly the same. If not, what type of issues are users experiencing with the WRT610Nv2 firmware on the E3000?
I have a E2000 and have loaded both dd-wrt.v24-14584_NEWD-2_K2.6_big and dd-wrt.v24-14567_NEWD-2_K2.6_std_usb_ftp. One thing I noticed was when I selected a specific wireless channel it always changed back to "Auto" when it was saved or applied -- this happened with both firmware listed above.
Thanks for your hard work!

Under the Wireless tab, is "Channel Width" set to Auto? If so, then the channel will always reset to automatic. Setting it to either 20MHz or 40MHz will allow you to choose a specific channel.
Thanks for your response. I set Channel Width to 20, then 40 MHz and was still not able to set a specific wireless channel -- still defaulted to "Auto". Can some either confirm whether or not they can set wireless channel when Channel Width is set to "Auto", 20MHz, or 40MHz?
Using the default Linksys firmware you are able to choose a specific channel regardless if Channel Width is set to "Auto", 20MHz or 40MHz. When I used the default Linksys firmware I specified Channel 1 and had Channel Width set to "Auto" ... worked perfectly as I have mixed G and N clients.

No.

Yes, the HW is the same except nvram size is 60K

Brick
To be fair there were threads about people who did manage to jump through the proper hoops and did get the 610v2 working on the 3000, the question I'd have to ask is, since this entire thread is about testing the brand spanking new E3000 FW linked on the front page, why would you even want to try to use the 610 now...
^^^i think everyone who flashed 610 firmware onto e3000 bricked their's...me included. There were some initial success stories, but I think after a few reboots EVERYONE lost there routers.
Why in the world somebody would want to put e3000 fw onto 610? Dunno, sounds pretty dumb to me.

3000 users wanted dd-wrt. cuz the hardware is exactly the same as a 610v2, they tried.. we call them pioneers.
Now that there is a solution for dd-wrt on a 3000, 610 v2 users should be putting the 3000 cfe on their v2 to take advantage of the added nvram space.
With my config and stored traff data, I have 1.8k of nvram left out of 32k. Increased nvram space is a huge deal. _________________ [Moderator Deleted]

I'm on the fence as to whether I should try this firmware to solve a couple of e3000 issues I have.
My issues are:
I have a WGA54G that I use to connect my DVR. It can't connect to the E3000 when the E3000 is set to WPA/WPA2 mixed mode (the WGA is only capable of WPA). For now I have been leaving it on WPA but that down converts my N devices to G. Linksys is working on a firmware fix and said they are going to shoot it to me as soon as it's ready.
My other issue is with my PS3. I regularly transfer large files (5-8gb) to it. Since getting the E3000 it has been a no-go. I get an error at some point during the transfer (always at different points). It sits two rooms away at about 40ft. If I move the PS3 to the same room, the transfer goes without a problem. My signal strength is around -75dBm. I really don't know what else to try. It was working good on my old Belkin flashed with WRT54GX firmware. So I was hoping this firmware might be a solution. What do you think?
BTW, if I flash to this can I flash back to Linksys FW easily?
Thanks.

Now I know why and it's not dumb! Thanks for clarifying.
any update on this? any idea on when this will go official? My e3000 will be here tomorrow (my wrt54gl is slowly dieing) and want to get it up and running asap, BUT I want to make sure i use stable builds. BTW, does DD-WRT support media sharing to xboxes and stuff w/ the USB port?

Yes, with optware - but it currently works only with the 2.4 kernel and the E3000 will only run the 2.6 kernel. _________________ Linksys 610Nv2 DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/24/10) mega - build 14144
