well i certainly dont know "everything", but ya the constant resetting thing is pointless. we had our discussions many times, & greydoc is one of the few users that doesnt agree with me on that topic. the only thing we agree on is that we agree to disagree.

I didn't say anything about tatsuya nor that I know more than him. But one thing I'm certain of is that he's sometimes quite wrong in the statements he makes and that I will not be his fanboy like many others are, only because I know less than him.

I read the link above and 30/30/30 is not the cause for that user bricking his router (a user who, by the way, has only 2 posts and knows so much that he kind of coined a pearl there.. 'refactory defaults' lol lol lol). And he tried 20 times 30/30/30 ? .. well, give me a break. Your link is not a proof for anything worth reading. It's complete trash and proof of a user who has no idea of what he's doing.

Well...honestly I think we all are right, because any device that includes software manipulation can be bricked (even doing the right procedure 100%) because it's hardware and software, and bugs, errors, wrong IO readings/writings...etc can happen.

Hello,

I have currently "DD-WRT v24-sp2 (12/22/14) std - build 25697" on my TL-WR741ND v4. I remember, sometime last year I installed the latest beta, and it turned out wpa2 was broken in it. Then I selected randomly a much earlier version, the one above. Until now I used it only as wireless AP, but today I connected a wired pc, which could not communicate with the other wired node. I looked up, and this seems to be an old bug. I wonder if it is already working in the current beta ? As I can't see any v24 atheros project selectable in Mantis, it suggests me the atheros based devices are not supported anymore, ie. there is a chance that even major bugs are not going to be fixed. Am I wrong ?

Here, this is the latest beta for your device, upgrade via web GUI: ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2016/01-19-2016-r28882/tplink_tl-wr741ndv4/tl-wr741ndv4-webflash.bin

Yeah, I know where the betas are, thank You though. The question was, is it worth to install ? Is it still maintained ?

Well idk why wouldn't it be supported, it got it's own beta build dated as late as 19.01.2016, this means the build was compiled specifically for this device...and by all means this means "support".

Hi,
I have a couple of wr741nd, version 2.0 and 2.4
I want to install the latest beta firmware of ddwrt, r29059.
I can see only two versions in the ftp:
- tplink_tl-wr741ndv1
- tplink_tl-wr741ndv4

I understand that wr741nd ver 2.x is hardware compatible with ver 1.x

So, is it ok to flash my wr741nd ver 2.x with the dd-wrt tplink_tl-wr741ndv1?

Thanks in advance

For WR741ND v2 use ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2016/02-15-2016-r29085/tplink_tl-wr741ndv1/

Hey guys,
where can I look up which firmware is considered 'stable release' for my router right now? wr741nd v4?
Should I use this 'latest beta'? (since betas are usually not the most reliable choice)

On every build release there is a Topic with info from forumers, read and you will always find at least a 740 similar to 741, and usually I don't read bugs reported on it.
