1. What's the correct file to flash if I'm currently in stock firmware? webflash or factory-to-ddwrt?
I assume it's factory-to-ddwrt, but I'm just asking to be sure.

2. Can I just flash the latest beta build (r28788) or is there any other more stable version?

v7.2.

Flash the factory-dd-wrt file first
then the 841N .bin file.
ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2015/02-04-2015-r26138/tplink_tl-wr841ndv7/
After that you can "upgrade" which I have a tendency to not fix it if it aint broke.

Any reason for suggesting that old version?

No I said after you flash the first you can "upgrade" all you want but that "11 month old" version is stable and works....but knock yourself out..

Airtime Fairness feature is introduce with the latest build 28788 - 2016/01/13.

Having said this, I don't know how stable is this buid for WR841N. And also I don't know if "Airtime Fairness" works.

I've been testing build 28647 - 2016/01/02 with WR841N v8 for a couple of day as a wireless client mode / AP without any problem so far.

Hello everybody.
I've just bought a WR841N (v10) to use as an OpenVPN client, but after flashing DD-WRT I found out it would only support PPTP.
My bad, I should have checked before buying.

Anyway... is there a way to revert to the factory firmware?
It seems that webrevert files exist up to v9 only. Sad

Any help?
Thanks

my experience (tl-wr841nd v9): from august until november (permanent uptime without interruption) I used 27506. No problems.
Then I began to test these 28xxx builds from time to time. Had several problems, router froze after some days of use or wirelesse connections were not responding for different clients with established connections. Last build I tested was 28647. After two weeks uptime clients could not connect wireless anymore though the clients could see the SSID.
So finally went back to 27506...
Can anybody see any progress for this router after 27506? If yes, which?

You could try the v9 file (I know some folks were able to go factory to dd-wrt with the v9 on a v10 before a separate build was released so the other way may work as well) but obviously your risk of bricking is increased noticeably.

That said I run a v9 as an AP/client in my basement and honestly I could probably just have used it in repeater mode to extend my network. In other words you might as well leave it with DD-wrt, use it until you replace it and then keep it as a repeater/bridge/AP if you want. Most of the 2016 builds so far have been rock solid for me but again that's with a v9
