I have noticed many posts with problems while running this build. Would it be possible to remove this build from the ftp site. That would prevent using this build and telling 20 people a day to read the announcements. Just a thought... any comments?

Been wondering that myself...who's the webmaster, and why can't (s)he update the front end to the recommended stable builds?

The inner workings of the company are a mystery to all... We had a discussion a couple months ago that involved revising the procedure before posting builds onto the DB and it seemed to have been agreed upon but then communication went dead and nothing has come of it.

Build 13064 is not really that bad. The only change that needs to be done is the recommendation and newest build to be changed to 14311.

All is about best latest version. Sticky says 13525,
at least for the device I have (Linksys wrt54gl). It
might be a little old, but should be stable and solid
as rock.
Would be fine to hear opinions on 14311 you use.
Best regards.

I have heard that 14311 is fairly stable and has the improvements of the earlier builds in it but I have also seen a few people saying their unit bricked. It is actually a slight improvement in routing over 13064 as the Broadcom wireless glitch has been solved. As you can see my WRT350N is happily using it and those are very picky units. Mine did not want to work right until Linksys Tech Support gave me a Beta Firmware(not on their site).

WRT54GL currently has 14311 as the newest in the database. It is not set as recommended though because site maintenance is lagging behind for some reason.

Last recommendation is 7/7. Pretty up to date.
For some reason I have bias for firmware from
previous year. Seems that people adore 13525.
If 14311 gives the same feeling, perfect. What
other posters say?
Best regards.

13525 is the build to use if you want a build you can trust. It's been recommended for half a year and has been proven to be a solid build. I'm not aware of anything particularly bad with 14311 but not many people use it because 'low activity' users tend to just get the routerdb's recommended version and 'high activity' users tend to test whatever the latest build is and fall back to the last build that was stable for them if the latest isn't stable.

I guess I am one of the "low activity" users as I currently get the highest numbered one in there regardless of the recommendation. But maybe I am just unique because I don't follow the recommendation.

Where do you recommend actually getting the DD-WRT firmwares? I see some people running around with high numbered ones that I can't find in the router database.

Believe it or not, I used google. Later found
links hidden on higher numbered pages. What build
are you looking after?

Just use the FTP link in my signature to get other builds.

14815 seems to be the last available one. Still no one
says a word on it.

14815 was just posted a few days ago.

WAY too early to get good test results from that build.

There were actually some problems with the Broadcom versions I believe.

For RaLink routers, that build should be OK to test.

As far as the builds, it also depends if you have Wireless-N.

If you only have Wireless-G - stick with 13525.
Newer builds have not had much, if any, fixes for wireless-G stuff.
All the newer ones were concentrating on supporting new units
and having better support for wireless-n / supporting dual radios, etc.

If you have Wireless-G - stick with 13525 and leave it alone.

But look in the forum for a thread that discusses the build to know if it's any good or not. The last few micro builds have bricked devices and while this is extremely uncommon, it is one of the possibilities when testing code before the devs even flash it onto their devices. The build thread will tell you what other users have experienced with the build so you know what to expect.

If you don't have Serial/JTAG then you should wait a while after a build comes out before trying it.

I have JTAG but I don't know how to properly connect the cable to the board. If I need to solder the pins on I also don't have a workplace that has proper ventilation and a workbench although some areas do come to mind.
