Hi,
I`m in need of a new router to replace my DLink DIR615 which even dd-wrt can`t turn from a sow`s ear into a silk purse.
The local store has the WNR3700L. I`d really like to run an OpenVPN build like dd-wrt.v24-13527_NEWD-2_K2.6_openvpn.bin . Is this a good router and an appropriate build for it or should I look at something else please?
The store also has the Netgear DGN2000, Buffalo Airstation Nfinity WHR-HP-G300N, Linksys WAG160N and SMC SMCWBR14S-N.
I would be really grateful for your recommendations as I am pressed for time and don`t have the hours to do a dilligent research job.

Thanks,

You would have to run a different build on that unit (WNDR3700), it wasn't even supported till 14280, and even that build was shakey with it. And yes it is Atheros based, i am hearing as of now though, that people are having much better results with these latest builds for the WNDR3700 so you may want to check it out. _________________ Wireless N Config | Linking Routers | DD-WRT Wiki | DD-WRT Builds | Peacock - Broadcom FAQ
Thank you. Stability is important to me. I sometimes go away from home for weeks at a time and it would be pretty inconvenient to have to call someone and ask them to go round my house and reboot the router because it has crashed.
The store has the 3500L recommended above for EUR 69. If my French is holding up it says that it is open-source, recommended for Linux developers, has GigE, 8MB Flash, 64MB RAM and USB 2.0. Looks like a contender
Which Broadcom device would you recommend?
Thanks,
Paul.

If you were going for the Netgear WNR3500L, which is not a bad choice, i would recommend the Asus RT-N16 over it, it has the same specs as the 3500L but it is better in the fact that it has 2 USB ports instead of 1 and it also has external antennas.
The store I found here (www.surcouf.fr) doesn't have the Asus. It looks really nice but back home it is approaching twice the price they want for the 3500 here. Do you think the Asus is worth paying £100 for against £60 for a 3500L?
Can I add a USB hub to the 3500 if I want to share multiple drives?
