@ALT You say you "followed the tutorial that came along with the router". Did you install DD-WRT on it, or are you running the stock firmware? If you aren't running DD-WRT then you've probably come to the wrong place.

Hello again!

I didn't installed DD-WRT in it cause I'm 100% noob and was afraid of bricking my router.
So at really I just wanted to know if installing DD-WRT could fix the issue or if this bug was something totally unrelated to the firmware.

Anyway, now I will do it Cool. I read the wiki for Asus RT-N13U, this thread, the peacock thread and other stuff.
But I still have some doubts:

1) Wiki says this is the FW most stable version: ftp://www.dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2011/05-08-11-r16994/Asus-RTN13UB1/

This seems to be the most "recent": ftp://www.dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2013/05-27-2013-r21676/asus-rtn13ub1/ (has anyone tested it?)

Which of them would you recommend me to use? (or should i use another one)

2) Peacock thread says about hard reset before and after flashing, but the wiki doesn't even mention it.

Should I do like Peacock says or I should just follow the wiki ?
By the way, I read somewhere that 30/30/30 put this router in recovery mode. So, what would be the real procedure to hard reset this router?

Thank you! Very Happy

Allright, I realized Peacock thread is about Broadcom, so I followed the wiki and got DD-WRT installed sucessfully.

Unfortunately, after 3 hours, I lost the connection to all devices again and couldn't access web GUI (198.162.1.1).
When I put in recovery mode and reinstall DD-WRT, it works for a while but soon I lost all the connection again.

So the issue is not related to the firmware, it is something else that I have no idea what it could be. Now I gotta figure it out Crying or Very sad . I don't even have any idea on how to open this router box to check inside it.

Thanks for all the help, see ya!

@ALT what version did you end up installing? When I did my initial install (about 18 months ago) I used the recommended build to do the Asus to DD-WRT flash with the *.TRX file, then I followed up and did an upgrade to the most recent branslayer *webflash.bin build via the DD-WRT web gui. Haven't looked back since.

Is it possible to make a lan port act as wan and the wan as lan?

I have tried this, but it didn't work:

nvram set vlan0ports="0 2 3 4 5*"
nvram set vlan1ports="1 5"
nvram commit
reboot

I want to do this because I need to connect the internet cable through an extra switch, otherwise it shows that it is disconnected. The lan ports work without switch.

Asus RT-N13U B1 - chip Ralink RT3052F this option isn't suitable for it. Use the "switch" command:
Code:

root@My-Fan:~# switch vlan dump
and
root@My-Fan:~# switch vlan set [vlan idx] [vid] [portmap]

set vlan id and associated member

Thank you for reply, but I don't really understand how to use that command. Could you give me an example?

Both .TRX and .BIN files were the most recent brainslayer (ftp://www.dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2013/05-27-2013-r21676/asus-rtn13ub1/).

But even with DD-WRT the issue persisted (Suddenly loses connection with all devices, doesn't matter if wired or wireless. Leds on router still on as if nothing wrong had happened).

I have same problem, not only with newest dd-wrt, but also with the recommended one and many more...
It seems that processes are hanging:

I am new to this forum and using DD-WRT from long time but now I am not able to connect to router whenever i tried to connect any device which is 20 feet from router. I tested on different mobile, laptop and with different OS. I restored router firmware to original firmware but i don't face similar problem with this. Currently router is running on DD-WRT v24 sp2 build. Is there any problem with setting. I can see 40% signal strength in another room but still i am not able to connect.

Hi,

I have a Asus RT N 13U B1 router. I flashed DD WRT firmware to my router. I can access the internet and all.

Now I am trying to connect my Hard disk to the USB port. I have My Book 2 TB external hard drive. I formatted it to FAT32 using Verbatim Smart Disk tool.

Then I connected it to my router and tried to enable USB service.

But it is showing the status as not mounted.

I am not a Linux person. So I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Please help. I have tried

insmod fat
insmod vfat

There are no errors there.

Thanks

Guys can someone help me with this issue.

I am using Asus RT N13 B1 with DD-WRT and it is placed in the Hall corner. The WiFi has consistently delivered a good strong signal and the ability to use it throughout my house. Few days ago I am not able to use it in the Next room which is at around 8 meters from the router. On Linux mint I can see signal strength at 40 to 50% but when i tired to connect it, it shows connecting and after some time, it asks for password.
I can connect with router in hall without any issues. I had tested connection with 2 Laptops, 3 Phones and tablet also but i cant connect with any device. I have done the usual troubleshooting stuff such as rebooting, resetting to factory default etc but to no avail.
Has anyone observed symptoms like the ones I describe?

Is the recommended Build still the build from the router database r17027? I don't have any issues atm just asking.

I saw some newer versions on the FTP but it's not listed in the router database.

I just went through a whole lot of hassle getting my RT-N13U b1 to operate in repeater mode and thought that I'd share what I found out.

As I looked around the various threads, I saw several people with the same problem as me: the router can see the network, you set it up with all the right credentials, but it won't acquire a network address and can't access the host network. But many other people said that they had no trouble with repeater mode on this unit. I tried the builds they were using, but still no dice.

The answer was the host network version. It seemed like everyone who had it working was running a wireless N host network, but my host network is wireless G. So tried it with my wireless N network at work, and repeater mode worked like a charm. Turns out with older builds, the N13 seems to not like connecting to a wireless G network.

As a last ditch effort before going back to the ASUS firmware, I tried loading one of the latest builds (20453). It now works. Don't know what changed in the builds, but this thing is running great now.

Now just to get USB storage working.

Hi, I just purchased an Asus RT-N13U (revision B1) and tried installing DD-WRT according to the instructions (using the latest release asus-to-ddwrt.trx).

My problem is that the flashing fails, at approximately 63% of the file. I tried both AFRU (from a Windows machine) and TFTP (from Linux). Is there anything else I need to do? Should I try another version?

I tried other dd-wrt versions (all for the same router, ver B1). The AFRU always stops at 4391936 bytes, then gives the following message:
"Failed to upload the firmware. Please check the connection between your computer and router."

I can telnet into 192.168.1.1 and login with admin/admin. Is there anything I can do with this? Is it possible that the memory of the router is somehow "full", and I need to delete some files?

I have read about the 30/30/30 deep reset, but found no "reset" button on this router. Should I use "restore"? Is the procedure different for this router?

Otherwise, the router works with the ASUS firmware. I could even upgrade it using the web GUI, so it is definitely not bricked.
