I have added the router in the Supported Devices wiki page as a work-in-progress and also sent an email to Brainslayer requesting official dd-wrt support for it and referring him to this thread.

Nice, let me know if any additional info is needed.
I am going to try and port the LCD display app from the provided source code to display some more useful info (like graphs, detailed speed, etc).

So when can we start expecting builds so people can try it? Or should I upload my modified DD-WRT image with the last byte changed?

Ok, I guess I will upload it:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ISFLN52K
Basically, stock DD-WRT for DIR-825 with last byte changed. You can download the original and use a hex editor to change the very last byte to be the number 1 in ASCII instead of 0.

Instructions:
1. Plug computer into port #1, set computer IP to 192.168.10.2, and make sure port speed is not gigabit or it will hang at uploading.
2. Hold down reset button while powering on the device for 30 secs.
3. Visit http://192.168.10.1/ and upload the file above.
4. Reset network to use DHCP, router will be at http://192.168.1.1

Done.

Hi!
I want update my tew-673gru with the dd-wrt firmware but I have some questions.

- How the display on top of router is use with wrt firmware? Is it usable?

- How usb port are used? Did we still need trendnet application on each pc you use or we can connect usb port simply with an ethernet address?

Thank you for your work !!

1. It will just keep the Trendnet logo all the time

2. No clue, it should be 100% compatible with the DIR-825, so whatever it does this should match it.

So far running rock stable using 802.11a and 802.11g all the time:

root@DD-WRT:~# uptime
18:43:47 up 38 days, 2:32, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00

You can always go to the DLINK firmware I modded or back to the TrendNet one using recovery mode.

I would like to buy TEW-673GRU for sharing 3G connection. However, it would be nice to get NAS and torrent support on it. Could anyone who already converted it to dd-wrt check those features?

Thank you zivan56 !! you're the king!

I just installed your copy in my TEW-673GRU and all work really great except one thing.

I have activated the USB support in the firmware but I can't connect to my usb device with "Trendnet usb control center utility" It' the trendnet app to connect to usb device.
I also try to install Dlink app "Shareport utility" and I can't connect my usb device too.

Have you some suggestions?

Thank you.

IlyaE, I take a snap shot of NAS section in my router. It look like it's supported...

No problem, glad somebody believes me that it works Smile

I don't believe DD-WRT supports such a thing. You have to either make it show up as a network drive, or use FTP/SCP.

It does load the 3G USB card drivers at boot, so as long as there is a driver it should work.

Hi zivan56,

Did future update need to change last bit in bin file?
There is a new version 05-08-11-r16994 here: http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/down.php?path=downloads%2Fothers%2Feko%2FBrainSlayer-V24-preSP2%2F2011%2F05-08-11-r16994%2Fdlink-dir825-revb/

Do you know where i can find changelog of new builts?

Thank you.

Probably not, as it only works in the DIR-825. You can load the regular DD-WRT firmware updates without any modifications to the DIR-825 file.

I just upgraded to DD-WRT v24-sp2 (05/08/11) std (SVN revision 16994) a couple days back. Just download dir825-firmware.bin and go to the DD-WRT upgrade page.

Ok now I can share my printer by usb port but i can't use my HDD with my tew-673gru because they are in NTFS.

zivan56 do you know how setup it to support NTFS? Do you know how install ntfs-3g service??

Thank you.

Not really. There are some instructions on the wiki on how to do it.
Most, if not all, questions asked in this topic are not specific to this device, but the DD-WRT build/version. So you will have better luck asking in the general forum (or doing a search there).

I did not write or contribute any code to DD-WRT to make the TEW-673GRU work. For all intents and purposes, you have a DIR-825 when you install DD-WRT on the router.
