Good to hear it was resolved, was most likely IE comparability mode being required (which I don't recall having to do). It will also behave the exact same way when in gigabit mode.

I tried uploading the file via IE and the 192.168.10.1 ping times out and eventually fails.
From what I tried neither Chrome nor IE9 work for the firmware upload. You can force IE9 into IE8 mode by using "developer tools" (F12) and selecting "browser mode" IE8 in the console then the upload will work properly.
Like iatacs19 mentioned, since 17825 support for the TEW-673GRU has been added, but I don't see a image for it, only the TEW-632brp and TEW-652brp.
Can we simple flash the generic image?

As I have mentioned, flash the DIR-825 DD-WRT firmware after the factory to DD-WRT flash. Unless you really care about the main DD-WRT screen showing the right router name, there is no difference at all from the revision log that was posted apart from that.
Ok, I guess I will upload it:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ISFLN52K
Basically, stock DD-WRT for DIR-825 with last byte changed. You can download the original and use a hex editor to change the very last byte to be the number 1 in ASCII instead of 0.
Instructions:
1. Plug computer into port #1, set computer IP to 192.168.10.2, and make sure port speed is not gigabit or it will hang at uploading.
2. Hold down reset button while powering on the device for 30 secs.
3. Visit http://192.168.10.1/ and upload the file above.
4. Reset network to use DHCP, router will be at http://192.168.1.1
Done.
I followed these instructions and flashed to DD-WRT without issues.
I did notice that this router's performance is actually worse than my WRT610N when copying files over the network, so I am not going to use it yet. I will wait for the DD-WRT firmware to work out the bugs on the DIR-825/TEW-673GRU before I replace my trusty WRT610N.
I was able to get DD-WRT onto this router with my macbook pro. I had to do the upload in Firefox as Chrome and Safari didn't work. (Maybe something with webkit browsers?)
I'm going to try updating to DD-WRT v24-sp2 (05/08/11) std (SVN revision 16994) like you said. I was having issues with a 320GB usb hard drive w/ ext2. I was downloading over SMB/FTP files very slowly. Not sure if it is an issue with the hd or something else. I was having trouble installing fdisk and other utils with ipkg to test the speed on the router itself. I'll see if the update helps. Thanks!

Hello, I was following the steps here, i first updated using the dir825 factory to dd-wrt,
then after a few days of it keeping connections lost,
i flashed the 825 firmware.bin i found on a website somewhere here.
it said update succeeded but then it didn't assign me an ip and i couldn't go to 192.168.10.1 or .1.1, it says no network access and identifing network at first, then unindetified network after a few minutes. I hope somebody can help me with this. I tried resetting it.
EDIT: I can get on the recovery mode, but i can't flash anything, says wrong hardware id! help please!

D-link firmware uses 192.168.0.1 by default. Set network adapter address to something like "192.168.0.5" and then you should be able to get to the router web interface.
Posted: Mon Dec 26, 2011 6:24 Post subject: Unit's wireless offline after revert to trendnet's firmware
just to explain a bit of the situation I am facing here. initially when I got my unit, I upgraded to dd-wrt using the last bit change method. It worked.
However, I tried to upgrade to the later firmwares using the "pressing the reset for 30 secs" method (should have tried to upgrade from the dd-wrt interface itself) and that causes the unit to become undetected.
I tried to revert back to the original firmware trendnet's b36 and the wireless now appears undetected (I couldn't see the channel setting from the status option).
I tried again to revert the firmware back to initial dd-wrt firmware (with last bit change) but it does not seem to be able to load the firmware anymore as my LAN cannot seem to identify the network with the router. (i.e., I couldn't even access the dd-wrt interface nor the wireless network)
Can someone advise what am I doing wrong and if there is anything else I can try?
