I have givenWHR-G300N firmware a try but the installation didn't work.
No it won't work and there is no dd-wrt firmware for it now.
The router is based on a RaLink RT3350 SOC which has a built in 5-port 100Mbps ethernet switch and 1T/1R 2.4GHz b/g/n radio + FEM/PA.
This is the first router I have come across which uses the RT3350 instead of the more popular RT3052 so your chance of getting it supported by dd-wrt may be slim.. _________________ Kernel panic: Aiee, killing interrupt handler!

where can i find more information on how to do this? i'm assuming experimentals are much like nightlies.. but i'm not sure where to find them, since the router database doesn't show the WCR-GN as supported yet.
is it possible someone here give us some info how to port the ddwrt firmware to Buffalo wcr-gn, i have 2 downloded files 1 for webflash (its not even been reqognised by the router) and one for tftp, i tried it but the router is not getting it, can you please explain us how to do it? nowhere in the whole world network we can find any kind of info about it!

I did some digging and think I found the instructions to apply DD-WRT experimental build from BrainSlayer to the Buffalo WCR-GN router I bought from NCIX on boxing day! Haven't tried yet but will make up some time to do it over this weekend (I will post my results here). The links and instructions follow:
1) according to BrainSalyer post above, this can be done via serial connection. I found the instructions on how to do similar thing using a WHR-G300N and am pretty confident the steps are the same:

2) We need to use one of the latest experimental builds from BrainSlayer which include the firmware bin for WCR-GN router. According to latest update from BrainSlayer to svn source code tree referring Ralink 3350 ( http://svn.dd-wrt.com/changeset/18032 ), it should be build number 18032 or above. I was not able to find such high build number on BrainSlayer experimental builds folder yet so went to the latest (18024) and voila: there is a folder for WCR-GN!:

3) Nutshell of steps (read the post from item 1) for the details):
1- install tftp server on a local computer with IP set to 192.168.11.2/24. Run it and make Buffalo_WCR-GN\firmware.ftp available as (i.e., renamed to) firmware.bin.
2- use a serial TTL to RS-232 (max323 chip) or USB cable, plugged to right pins on router's motherboard (may require some soldering) and access it via HyperTerminal with 57600, 8, n, 1 settings from your computer
3- quickly run the commands "4" and "run ut_fw". This will trigger the router to download the first firmware from your tftp server

the thrid step ,it has an error. When Entr boot command line interface,"run ut_fw" is an unknown command. so I find you could press "2: Load system code then write to Flash via TFTP." Then You should according to prompts and create a tftpserver upgrade the image.
this fimware maybe has some error.
