I read the wiki article on connecting subnets with static routes, and it all made sense. However I wonder if there was a purpose other than that for static routes?

My situation is that I have a couple of routers that sit in the middle of two other routers and only transmit info either up/down to one of the routers, or up/down to the other. Would static routes or some other such setup make this data transfer faster? All are on the same subnet.

If all routers are on the same subnet, you will not need any routing tables between them..
