No VCC is needed. These 3 pins are enough.

Hi, still no wifi?

I know it has 4m flash,is the jffs non-existant at all?

Reading through your step by step everything makes sense up to the last item :

Where do I "Save and reboot" ???

And, would it not be a lot easier to use the serial link & Ctrl-C to get to the RedBoot prompt instead of using telnet and trying to get a connection to it that way.
