Is this firmware also compatible with the WNDR3400 v2?

I am thinking about putting dd-wrt on my 3400v1 and use it as a wireless bridge for my AVR and PS3.
Need to find how solid it is as wireless bridge @ 2.4Ghz.

Also what are the chances running on 5GHz because in the end I want to run wireless bridge on 5GHz.

As I understand only stable f/w is 17990 build. Others have one issue or another.

Appreciate input from the the experts.

I have it running 18946 Big now, but I think the "load average" in 18946 is higher than it was in 17990.
I'm going to flash it back to 17990 Mega when I have time.

Yeah, I can confirm that my load average in 17990 Mega (typically between 0.05 and 0.15) is lower than it is in 18946 Big (typically between 0.15 and 0.45). It's set up as a gateway, with OTRW Take 2 running a few things such as openvpn, pptpd, denyhosts, etc.

So I'm sticking with 17990 Mega for now.

so 17990 seems to be th ebuild to go.

What about wireless bridge or client bridge?
Does it work anyone has tried it wihtout any issues?

Can you do the wirless bridge over 5GHz as I want to use it connect to my main router and leave 2.4GHz for all other devices.

I've set one up as a Repeater Bridge without any issue, for both 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz.

I left it at 2.4 GHz, because 5 GHz is not very good at penetrating walls or floors.

Thx I will check it out.
Since it is set as a repeater I am concerned with bandwidth. I assume if I connect the wireless bridge via 5GHz it will not halve the bandwidth of 2.4GHz where most of the computers/tablets are connected.

Depends on the locations. If you can get good connections using 5 GHz, then clearly that's a better choice. But if your routers are separated by walls and floors, 5 GHz is not very good at penetrating obstacles.

I was able to set up the WNDR3400 running 17990 as client bridge(not repeater, but setting are the same). Using 5Ghz dedicated for the bridge to the E4200. I can now play HD movies off my network HDD without any freezing. I am using the 2.4Ghz on WNDR 3400 as guest network as well for G devices. If I log into it I can get the internet(although slower) so I assume it is using the 5Ghz bridge to get to my main router and internet.
Two issues I need some input. I made 2.4Ghz guest network and also chose AP isolation enable but it seems to be not working as I can get to my network drive when logged into the guest network. Second issue is I am getting some Tx (nor Rx). Mainly they are when I boot the router or apply changes but during normal operations they are usually a couple an hour or so. I have seen them on both E4200 and WNDR3400. Did not see it before so some setting needs tweaking. Already played a little with ACK timing bringing it down from 2000 to all the way to 300 but not much improvement seen.

After 1 day and 7-8 boots:
Wireless Packet Info
Received (RX)
846383 OK, no error
Transmitted (TX)
1430511 OK, 216 errors

Hello,

I was able to install 18946_K2.6_NV64K. No problem with the flash. Now I notice that the WI-FI 2.4 is constantly blinking and I can see the internet Icon also blinking, even when there is no device accessing the internet.

I try to use the schedule, and I see the light turning off, and the back on.

Does any one have see this?

Does any one have any experience with dd-wrt.v24-19519_NEWD-2_K2.6_big-nv64k.bin?

Please help.
