Once I install the special software sash posted can I then start using other builds as they come out?

I have a Valet m10 v1, that i've upgraded the firmware to v2.0.01, i can't seem to get my valet to enter management mode. i've done the hard reset multiple times, restored to factory faults and then tried. i'm new to dd-wrt so i want to make absolutely sure i'm doing everything right before i brick my router.
Hey all, new to the forums but I've been running dd-wrt on various routers for years now.
I've got a Cisco Valet M10 v1 currently running DD-WRT v24-sp2 (10/26/10) mini - build 15508M NEWD-2 K2.6 Eko.
From what I understand after the initial flash of the dd-wrt.v24-15508_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_m10.bin I should be able to now use any of the builds that follow.
It's been running solid on this build for a few months now. I'd like to enabled IPv6 which is not supported on the mini, so I'd need to flash dd-wrt.v24-16758_NEWD-2_K2.6_std_nokaid_small.bin now I believe.
From reading the peacock thread I believe that the m10 build is only required for the initial flash and then standard builds can be used. Am I understanding that correctly?
The Valet has 4MB flash and the standard build is 3,456 KB so I'm assuming it will fit fine.
I hate to ask a question what might seem obvious to more experienced folks. But I'd hate even more to brick my router because I didn't ask.
Does this router really have 4 meg of flash? I would love to move to a standard build. _________________ --------------------------------

Alright after reading some of the test build threads I just took a big breath and put the std-nokaid-small NEWD-2 K2.6 Eko build onto my M10, it worked like a charm, no problem, so anybody wondering... GO for it. _________________ --------------------------------

Thanks for passing on that information.
I guess that's the only way anyone can be sure, have someone roll the dice and see what happens. lol.
I was just about to risk it this coming weekend and see what happened myself if I didn't hear anything. Glad to know it went smoothly.
Like I said, I'm mostly looking to add IPv6 so it wasn't like it was something I had to have or anything.
and it works great with the M10 V1. No issues yet!
rpi86, thanks for being brave and trying the newest mini.
It worked fine for me as well. I am using my M10 as a Client Bridge to run a media player. (Works much better than the wireless-N Usb adapter I was using.)
I should also mention that my Valet is also a version 1.0 but would not load "dd-wrt.v24-15257_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_m10.bin" as recommended at the beginning of this thread but 17598 loaded right up like you said it would.
This thread is really old. Is there any reason the supported list of devices hasn't been updated and this hasn't been added as a supported build for this device?
Also, once this mini build has been flashed can any of the other standard builds be flashed?
I'm having trouble using the M10 in "repeater" function. I've tried a few different settings 10-20-40 upper/lower etc. but cannot get it to work.
Any ideas?
turn off mac filter first. i was having trouble connecting until i turned off mac filter on main router. turns out the ddwrt firmware changed the mac address of the m10. it was b9 on the sticker but it's actually bb when i checked the wireless status page.
I set it up as a repeater bridge and i can't access the m10 wirelessly. I have to plug into the ethernet port. also there was no internet access on the ethernet ports. does anyone have these problems?

I was able to flash a M10 v1.0 firmware v2.0.03 to dd-wrt.v24-17598_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini too. Thanks OP!
Posted: Sun Nov 27, 2011 1:54 Post subject: M10 DD-WRT, More Info
I recently acquired a large number of M10 routers, and of course, immediately looked to determine if they could run DD-WRT.
The information I found has been rather unclear and sometime appears contradictory, so I will try to summarize my findings in this post.
First thing I found is that searching the router database indicated the router is NOT supported by DD-WRT. However, the wiki indicates it is a WIP with an official stable release to made available in the near future, however, the information on the wiki has not been updated in some time.
I was rather surprised to find the firmware attached to the first post in this thread for the M10, but was a little concerned with how dated it was. (over a year old) However, I was even more surprised when I looked at the DD-WRT ftp site to discover that apparently Eko has been producing builds supporting the M10 and M20 routers for quite awhile, and several people have reported success in using them.
I plan to try installing one of these builds on an M10 later tonight, and will post with my results.
However, there is some information which despite my looking, I have been unable to find any reliable source of information.
First is wireless chipset information. In the past I was able to find a great deal of detailed information on the specification of the Broadcom wireless chips in some of the other Linksys router, for example, the E2000, explaining how they are built and what kind of wireless performance you can expect from them, however, I have been unable to find any information for this for either the M10 or it's hardware twin the E1000.
Also, I have been unable to find any information about HOW to actually apply the M10 build - most of the routers I have flashed in the past with DD-WRT have required special initial flashing before applying the final version of DD-WRT, however, I have been unable to find any such information for the M10. Most of the information I have found showing recommended builds and such in such places as the peacock thread appear to be quite dated and probably not apply anymore.
In any case, if anyone has any more information or any thoughts on any of this I would love to hear from you. Thanks!
