Can I upgrade my wrt160nv3 to E1000 by simply upgrading the e-1000 build?

Thx to barryware for purchasing this router and testing the builds. Also thx to LOM for his kind advices.

I'm a bit unclear on if any builds besides the one attached to this thread will work for my E1000 v1, after the initial flashing. Will all K26 builds work, or only ECO K26 builds newer than the one posted, or only the one posted?

I would prefer to have a standard build rather than a mini build on my router if possible.

Thanks for any help.

TMK... as long as the build number is above the 1st posted build, it should be OK. Take note of the files size though. Some of the std builds are too large for a 4mb router.

referring the e1000 v1 and firmware download link on page 1:

does this build have openvpn on it, and if not, can someone link to a new build that does?

Size wise it will fit. If you can wait a few hours, I'll flash it and make sure nothing goes wrong.

Because You are using 20mhz, and not the 40mhz bonding. So it will limit it to 54Mb.

I have bricked many routers. You know it. LOL

Just want to make sure which build I can flash my E1000 version 1? I can not find any NEW-2 K26 OPENVPN build named e1000...

Will "dd-wrt.v24-15962_NEWD-2_K2.6_openvpn_small.bin" work???

Thanks!

Can anyone answer my question about putting std_nokaid-small on here? I have downloaded and tried to flash dd-wrt.v24-13527_NEWD2_K2.6_std_nokaid_small.bin and it fails and now I get lights and everything on the router but its unaccessible. I may have to tftp the original ddwrt.v24-15334_NEWD2_K2.6_mini_e1000.bin back on there.

So in a way I may have answered my own question.

15279 was the 1st build for the e1000. any builds earlier than that (13527) will not have the code for the e1000.

Your E1000 V1.. Has 4mb flash and must us a k26 build and the build must be newer than 15279 as that was the 1st build that had support for the E1000.

So.. yes, that build will run.

http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/12-24-10-r15962/broadcom_K26/dd-wrt.v24-15962_NEWD-2_K2.6_openvpn_small.bin

Remember, the E1000 is not like the 2000 & 3000.. Nvram is the same so it does not require a trailed build after the initial flash from stock to dd-wrt.

Normal flashing procedures apply.. Biggest thing it to check "reset to defaults settings" after the flash in the upgrade gui and WAIT after flashing. The data transfer only takes a few seconds. The checking, writing of the flash, checking again, and booting takes some time.
