Hardware Nanostation 2 loco with dd-wrt
I am trying to connect to an existing AP with WPA2-AES and I can't connect. Switching to WPA2-TKIP worked.
I also tried configuring Nanostation with dd-wrt as WPA2-AES AP, and a second Nanostation with original firmware as client and it can't connect with WPA2-AES. It connects OK with TKIP.
I know TKIP is not secure, this is why I want to use AES. I tried different dd-wrt configs like TKIP+AES, etc. and couldn't get AES working (the client gets associated but ping fails).
i use such a setup a hundered times and it works ok.
so it must be a config problem.

What must I update? dd-wrt? It is the version what is at the web site.
I am having extrange problems with this. With no security, all works ok. With tkip, it works... until I restart the client. Then it never works until I restart the server.
The only thing I've done different from the normal, is creating various virtual APs.
Well. I've tried the lastest version of dd-wrt and looks better but had more problems. Firewall script was not executed.
Finally I detected the problem:
When I create various virtual APS, the connection only works if there is not security defined. If you define any seucrity (including wep), the clients associates to the AP but traffic never arrives to the AP. With open connections all works OK.
But nowdays, nobody can leave a wifi without some encryption.
Mac filtering has also errors. If you tries to add mac filtering to different Virutal APs, the data is not saved. Only the first one works.
Then, there is not any way to have 6 clients and connect each one to a virtual ap. The only wan to distinguish the clients is by IP, but ip (and MACs) can be changed easyly. This is why I wanted to use virtual ap+passwords for distinguishing the traffic of the different clients.

I too have ran into this problem. I have a new computer, and only one VAP. With no security, I can connect fine. This is also the case on my iPad and iPhone. As soon as I enable security, WPA... WPA2.. TKIP, AES.. nothing works. It wont log into the AP. Just tells me it failed to connect.
