ftp://dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/11-09-10-r15704
Installed it yesterday on my dlink dir-600b1 router.
Had over 9 hours of uptime under heavy load so its pretty safe to say its stable.
However my client pc's are unable to conect anything faster than 65Mb/s as opposed to 150Mb/s with build 14896.

This new build isn't that interesting for ralink based units..

Only some atheros driver fixes and some formatting..

I will stick to 15693 for now..

I know the 150mbit/65mbit or 40mhz band is still an issue but brainslayer thinks it has to do somthing with your laptop adapter..

I wonder on what grounds he makes that assumption. After all there's no rate issues of this kind with r14896 nor stock firmware.

Just installed this build on an Engenius ESR-9752. Seems to work but only at 54 Mbs on wireless. My adapter usually runs at 150 Mbs. May be something I am doing, not sure at this time.

Edit: Also, this is nothing new to this build but the WAN and LAN LEDs do not work on the ESR-9752 version. Oddly enough they did work after flashing from the factory firmware to DD-WRT and seemed to work perfectly until I powered the unit down and restarted. No WAN or LAN LEDs after that. The WAN now has solid ' amber ' LED and four LAN LEDs are dark.

Both WAN and all four LAN ports work, just no LEDs.

Edit: I flashed it back to the factory firmware since I was only interested in seeing if the WAN and LAN LEDs were working in this build. I prefer DD-WRT but since this router is a gift to a friend I need the LEDs working.

I always use WPA2 and AES on all wireless.

I have two DIR-600s at home, both running build 14894. One takes care of everything, the other's working as a repeater bridge.

I haven't tried any other build than 14894 because I can't get full N speeds then (150 mbps max on this router since it is a 1T1R model)

has this been fixed on these builds like 15704? I mean, what happened? It was working fine in 14894 and earlier builds.. I'd like to be up to date (even though both routers are quite stable, last time I reset them was 9 days ago), but I don't like the idea of having my wireless speeds cut in half since I'm already using something that halves my speed (the repeater bridge)

I read that someone tried an earlier build... 15693 if I'm not mistaken and he had excellent wireless speeds with that one, but he wasn't quite clear on his post.

EDIT: Nevermind, I've tried 15693 and 15704... both have this problem with the 40 mhz band. Anyway, they feel faster and more refined than 14894... At least the CPU usage meter works Very Happy I'll give this latest release a try.

15693 works fine on my dir-600, i'm able to see the bandwidth for all interfaces. Maybe its your router (if it isnt a dir-600) or it could be your browser (if we talking about the dir-600). Are you using a browser thats capable of viewing SVG images like Firefox ?

Havent loaded this 15704 build but will try it once I test build 15693 properly.

I have a DIR-600 B1 and never managed to get my iphone 3G or Ipod v1 wireless to work. They work fine on a DIR-300 A1 (Atheros) or on a WHR-G125 (Broadcom), but not on ralink. The last build I tried was 15693, security is set with WPA2 + AES.

Is there anything I have to change in the setup to get it working?

I hope the 40mhz band problem is fixed sometime soon, I don't like having my bandwidth halved from the 120-150 mbps possible with my current setup to about 58-72 mbps max.

I won't go back to 14894 (which didn't have this problem) because 15704 is overall faster. I don't know what went wrong with the 40 mhz band, it was working well before.

Problem is, from 14894 to 15704 there have been about 6 builds, all have this problem :s

It's strange! How can such a problem go unnoticed in 7 releases? I don't get it.. Why was it working well in 14894 and then it went wrong? Did they update the wireless driver after 14894? If so, that new driver is broken!

Well i wrote this as a seperate topic, which has had no replies yet, i guess its a bit harsh but i was hoping someone might see my point, i will paste it below:

So what fw would everyone suggest is the fastest / most reliable?

I have a D-link Dir-615D

I use fw 14896, i seem to get full speed, it shows constant 270mbps, when i try any of the fw V15+++ i seem to only get just over 100, im led to beleive there is some rate issue with these fw's though, it was also mentioned that my fw doesnt support wireless N, are these both true?

I always wonder if its worth updating to any fw now as none of the previous 6 or 7 releases have been good, they all seem to have big issues with them, plus new versions come about every week or so, which also makes me wonder if its worth updating once you have found a version that works good for you, as most versions seem to always be that buggy which is why they must release new versions so fast, to fix the last bugs that were created.

I dont think i have seen any fw which everyone has said its brilliant and it makes everything work, there seems to always be someone who finds something not working or it just bricks their unit.

Instead of releasing fw's every week or earlier, maybe it would be good practice to leave the updates to once a month and actually either test them first before they are released so everyone here isnt a beta tester and ends up with a dead unit and a lot of hassle.

I really agree with the above statement i have just said, i think more quality time should be put into the fw's rather than rushing to release new versions every week, i personally dont want to update my unit on a weekly basis for every new release, if anything each fw should last for a good 2 or 3 months before a new good fw comes out.
