can someone clarify for me:
1. if I update my asus firmware to the modifed russian firmware 1.0.1.7f-p11, will I need to install optaware and open vpn server package if I want open vpn?
2. Would this open vpn installation be easily changable to open vpn CLIENT so that I can make my asus router connect to another dd-wrt vpn server?

I really appreciate the work Padavan puts into his FW, but alas, the new FW (1.0.1.8p1) seems to have brought back the timeouting connections (eternally waiting supporting sites such as s0.wp.com or other avatar sites)

Going back to .07..

Could you describe the problem if you have it there. We just have no one in Russia with such come across. I also just heard about it. If you do not complicate the post here http://code.google.com/p/rt-n56u/issues/list
A detailed description of what you see. You can with the screen.

Hello guys,

I'm having some router load issues with 1.0.1.8d. Did anyone else notice this problem? I did not have anything like this on earlier versions.

It seems like it's caused by UPnP on windows machines. This is how it looks like in the log and it loops forever:
...

Hi Hardsh132,
sorry for my late reply, I haven't been home for a while and didn't check the forum. Looks like Padawan has updated his SW twice in the meantime.
I will test his new SW, and report if I encounter the problem!

Unfortunately the problem still remains also in 1.0.1.8d-p3.
For example now if I go to a blog laimeasilli.wordpress.com (or any site in hosted there), there is eternal wait, and the browser is waiting for something from s0.wp.com. I think this server hosts some data that is used on the site.
After some minutes, the connection will timeout, and the page will load without some resources (for example css, or images, depends on a site)

It's not related to wordpress, something to do with external resources. Same problem happens also for example with Finnish news website http://www.suomif1.com, only it seems to wait stuff from connect.facebook.net.
Also I have seen platform.linkedin.com

I have taken pcap logs with wireshark, from both IE and Chrome, both showing the same symptoms, I don't know if something can be seen from there. I tried to load the webpage and waited for couple of minutes without any response, and browser was hanging on "waiting for s0.wp.com". Log files can be found here:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/rvnr2u

Let met know if I can help more.

In the meantime, I'm going back to old and trusted 7f-p11...

Looks like I'm still getting timeout issues with the latest firmware as well... Confused
I'll create an official issue to the google code page, with the logs I attached before

I thought so as well, and tried google DNS, but this didn't help.

It turns out, it was a configuration error (invalid user :p), that for some reason didn't manifest itself in the older FW.

After setting up MRU and MTU values recommended by my ISP, everything seems to work correct...!
