Last week I purchased the D-link DIR-825, flashed DD-WRT to it without issues and used it as a repeater. About 3 days later it decided not to work (literally overnight, turned pc off and 12 hours came back and I had no access). After fiddling with it I realised that all the lan ports will not work, the wireless works fine, except when I try to put it into repeater mode.
Things I have tried:
- 30/30/30
- TFTP (unavailable due to no LAN support)
- Reflashing dd-wrt
I have been searching for similar posts to this without success, a few mention the LAN ports working for a couple seconds on startup (pingable). My device never connects to LAN, not for a second.
After every method tried to recover it I decided to break DD-WRT using erase linux command in telnet, wich did exactly that. Broke DD-WRT, but the ports still do not work.
After all that I have come to comclusion that it is most likely a hardware failure, due to the sudden failure, the constant results and the results after breaking the firmware.
At the moment I see two options, jtag (only info I can find on my model is for Rev. B such as in this thread - http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=520266
But does the rev. C require a different method, since the hardware is slightly different.
Another option I thought was to delete all software on it (possibily how it is now), fully brick it, and claim it under warranty, similar story to what I successfully did to my bricked phone (another reason I am hesitant for J-tag as that will automatically void warranty)
At the moment when it is turned on, both the Power and LAN 1 LED's are lit up, hangs on that for a few seconds then the power LED will flash while the LAN 1 LED is constantly lit up.
My options seem very limited, and feel that the router will end up being put into the bin, but if anyone has any further information It would be great.
if the port are dead even in recovery mode the unit is damaged. _________________ Forum Guidelines...How to get help

Ok, what are the chances of getting it covered under warranty? knowing that you now can't currently access it at all (through LAN or wireless). Technically its voided since I flashed it, but I did the same sorta thing with my phone and got it covered by warranty

I just saw this and by now you probably already returned your router, however I had the EXACT same issue with DD-WRT on my D-Link 825 when I updated it to the latest version.
It worked for a little bit and then I couldn't do anything on LAN.
I was able to fix the problem though. I tried all of the things you did, but the only way I could get it to work was:
1) do the 30/30/30
2) flash the original D-Link firmware 1.27A
3) then I went through the steps of installing the same DD-WRT version that caused the issue.
Once I got the original firmware back on, everything worked again under stock. Then for whatever reason when I replaced that with the latest DD-WRT, it worked great (and is still working).
I thought it was a fluke, but since you had the same problem, I wonder if there's a sometimes issue with the flashing?
Everything was working perfectly for several days, but one morning I came to use the computer and found none of the LAN ports were working any longer. After a 30/30/30 reset I was able to log onto the router wirelessly, and tried to flash the original DLINK firmware. I received a success message but after rebooting the router it still had the DD-WRT firmware. I also tried to flash with an earlier build of DD-WRT, and again received a success message, but the firmware remained unchanged at the latest version.
Is there any way to recover the router once it's in this condition? Any ideas as to why the flash isn't working, even though I'm getting a success message each time?
