Hello,
I am having a strange network routing problem. In order to better explain, here is a brief description of the topology:
WIFI Wan router connected to the internet
192.168.2.1
Bunch of WIFI devices:
192.168.2.x
Asus RT-N13U B1 device, setup in client mode
Firmware Version DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/19/12) std - build 18777
192.168.2.27
192.168.1.1
Desktop System (using DHCP)
192.168.1.102
HP Laserjet IV printer with jetdirect card (fixed IP)
192.168.1.50
Almost everything works perfectly fine.
Desktop computer can ping the printer and see the web
On the relevant wireless devices, I have added a route as follows. It is a sad thing but I could not do it directly on the other router:
route add 192.168.1.0 mask 255.255.255.0 gw 192.168.2.27
From those computers, the following work:
ping 192.168.1.1
ping 192.168.1.102
While the following fails:
ping 192.168.1.50
The wireless systems each have a different OS: Linux (Ubuntu 9.10), Windows XP and Windows Vista. All fail with the same behavior.
Meanwhile, the desktop computer can print without a glitch. I have no idea what is wrong. Also, I just tried to make sure, and the N13U can ping the printer just fine.
Here is the output of the route command on the N13U:
