Could CTF be implemented in future releases of dd-wrt for other models and chipsets?

FYI, Tomato already has this implemented... A benefit of not completely ignoring Broadcom.

I wish I could... But I'm afraid that my networked equipment is not up to par for the test (an older PC, a NAS which although gigabit maxes out at about 15MB/s, a PS3, and a somewhat older notebook with only Wireless G)...

Picchioni, maybe you can flash your E3000 to Tomato for the test? Makes for a somewhat controlled environment as well (ie same setup, allowing for a comparison).

For those who purchased the E4200 at Best Buy for $179. I was able to get a refund of the $149 sale difference just by showing my receipt. I am not sure how long the sale will last but its worth dropping into Best Buy to pick up 30 bucks if you have already purchased the router.

The internal pics are up on the FCC site (fccid=Q87-E4200)

I know there was a pic or two already on posted on the board.

The layout is very similar to the E3000. It looks like jtag has not been disabled but I can't be sure cuz the traces go through to the underside of the pcb.

Additional jtag for the radio and serial is there.

Has anyone dumped any data yet and sent it off the Eko? I'm on a mini vacation for a bit but when I get back, if no one has dumped the data, maybe I can pick one up.

From what I have read here & there, there may be a problem with both the radio drivers and the switch drivers.. Just like the E1000 V2.

Not sure how to extract the data but I'm totally game..can't see anything exposed in the stock firmware except for ping/traceroute..

I use serial to stop the boot, then dump the wholeflash via the cfe save command and a tftp server. Once I have all the data, then I extract the data sections from the wholeflash.. (cfe, linux, nvran, squash~, etc.) That router may have additional partitions. Serial log when booting will tell all.

Looking forward to the DD-WRT firmware. It has proven better than the linksys firmware time and time again. I like the fact doesn't have memory leaks and once set it doesn't have to be reset or power cycled. I cant wait till the geniuses come out with the firmware. Thank you very much for your hard work on it.

I have the pics extracted from the PDF's but wikia is having problems letting me upload the pics. I will post when they are uploaded.

EDIT: I got them upload.

Here ya go. Sorry about the quality, it's from my iPhone 4. Can't seem to figure out which box my Nikon is in...just moved into a new place, and still unpacking.

There is a way to post them as thumbnails?

[edit:phuzi0n] See the forum guidelines on pic sizes. Use an image site if you want thumbnails + full size.

I just picked one up as well. Works good as far as connections and speed. But the stock firmware sucks big time. It's so limited... can't even create a wireless bridge or client.

can't wait for some 3rd party firmware, either dd-wrt or tomato.

I gotta say its faster then my E3000 so far and throughput is also higher even with the default firmware. Smile
