I can't answer all your questions, but will give my experience. I've been running the k3.x builds on the N66U for a good while now and it's very stable. Port forwarding is fine. 2.4 GHz is not good. QoS I can't say as I haven't experimented with it.
I am planning to try the latest k2.6 builds soon to see if the 2.4 Band is better. Will report in if it is. I think I've read that with k2.6 the 2.4 radio is better. If someone can confirm, please do so. Thanks. _________________ Asus RT-N66U / DD-WRT v24-sp2 (Build 23598)

Hi Guys,
I have just updated to the latest of brainslayer's K3.x builds (23598) and all seems well except for QoS.
Basically if I enable QoS (tried lots of different QoS configurations) and then run a test using speedtest.net, about half way through the downlink test, the router stops responding to pings and all clients (wired and wireless) get booted off for about 30 seconds.
Strictly speaking, I don't think the thing re-boots, but definitely kills any open connections.
The speetest is a reliable way to reproduce the issue, but it happens regularly without running the test.

AC66U here. I have build 2770M flashed. The regulatory domain is set to europe and I'm using auto channel with 40MHz width on 2.4 GHz and auto on 5 GHz with 80 GHz.
This doesn't work. First, the country that wl reports is wrong:

Country code can be set with nvram set ... and then nvram commit.
The article only says compliant devices must implement a co-existence mechanism, no that the 40 MHz mode went away. In fact, after I change the country to NL, I get the 40 MHz chanspecs. If I set 13u:

I see many questions about 'what is current best practice' on this thread. I will provide my own experience for reference.
The router I used was an Asus RT-N66U hardware version B1 (printed on the label on the bottom).
I upgraded the firmware to the latest ASUS RT-N66U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.374.4561
which can be downloaded from the Asus support page for this router. I used the web GUI to provide the upgrade file.
When that finished, I unplugged the router for several minutes.
Any update on the success, particularly with the 2.4 radio. BrainSlayer seems to be reported with radio issues, just wondered what your experience was so far.

I'm also curious of this, I have been having problems with the 2.4 radio.
I intend to release a new build in the next few days and like my ARM builds it will allow you to choose between new and old driver, proabbly want to wait for 23770-R01 which is extremely stable now.

I have a an RT-N66U that had DD_WRT installed and working on it. It had v24-sp2 (5/27/13) Build 21676. I could use both the 2.4 and 5 Wireless Interfaces. I added two - three 2.4 Ghz Virtual Interfaces and they worked great until I rebooted. After a reboot, I could see (on multiple devices); Virtual SSID wlo.1 but I could not connect to it, no devices could see Virtual SSID wlo.2, all devices could see Virtual SSID wlo.3 but it had "no signal". All devices could connect to both the 2.4 wlo and 5 wl1 no problem.
If I change the SSID names of wlo.1-3 I again can connect to each one and have internet. Do a reboot and it is as described above. I tried this with and without security and got the same results. I tried 2 virtual interfaces and got the same results. I have no other changes to the settings other than the IP address, and adding virtual interfaces. I have internet all around until I do a reboot.
I did a factory default reset, upgraded the firmware to v24-sp2 (02/19/14) big-build 23598, did another reset and tested. I had the same results.

Edit: I just thought about it that I did not try the 5 Ghz Interface to see if I have the same problem. I tried it and the 5Ghz Virtual Interfaces work great. I created two 2.4 Ghz VI and two 5 Ghz VI. After a reboot I cannot connect to the 2.4 VI but I can connect to both 5 Ghz VI. It must be the 2.4 radio issue.
