Unless I missed something and the Asus RT-N66U no longer needs a special build, is there a version of the firmware for this that has the heartbleed OpenSSL bug patched?

Check if you are able to use Kong 22000+. First, you have to flash the precise version required by your CFE, which may be either nv32k, nv60k or nv64k (you have to do the research yourself). Then, Kong K26 builds still have a problem with mounting USB disks from RT-N66U. _________________ 2 times APU2 Opnsense 21.1 with Sensei

He can also flash the K3-AC builds which also support the RT-N66U. These include openssl fix and work on the N66U. Need to sync my Readme etc.

the status page shows no MAC address.
i've tried it both with and without the MAC address clone turned on.
(see attachment)
WAN IP in upper left shows nothing (not 0.0.0.0)
previous router (WNDR3700 dd-wrt v24-sp2 10/26/20 std) needed mac clone. but what's strange is the status page shows hw mac, not clone.
when router does NOT have an IP it shows the cloned mac on status page. weird.
that router gets an IP just fine.
is this a known issue? newer K3 builds fix it? wl0 radio seems fine, so far...[/img]

** SOLUTION: not sure what i did. several cycles of erasing nvram, and hand-editing settings in different orders and my WAN is working. i'm still on 21676. going to run with this for a while, see if QOS works... _________________ wrt54g dd-wrt v24 repeater

Hello which better and stable firmware?DD-WRT or asus wrt merlin for rt-n66u router? Now i using asus merlin latest build. But i think try latest dd wrt version with 3.0 kernel? How working dd wrt on this asus router?
Unfortunately I see an issue where incoming port forward TCP connections hang after 2112KB (in my case SMTP and SSH ports (an SCP)) transferred incoming. This is to an internal Linux machine from the Internet.
I was thinking about blanking the config and rebuilding (I didn't between these versions), but I couldn't quite imagine the config corruption/collision that could cause this. A port forward should just be a iptables and the kernel involved i.e the iptables if it works should just continue, I can't see how it would break after 2112KB. But maybe I suppose....
I'm prepared to put the hours in for a manual config migration, esp if anyone else has seen this issue by not blanking configs? Or has anyone else seen this issue with a blank configs?
I did see this issue in the past on one rev but my update to this 21625 version resolved originally....

DD-WRT K3.x is much slower than Merlin, but it has more advanced functions. So, choosing one or another depends upon what you want to do with it. _________________ 2 times APU2 Opnsense 21.1 with Sensei

I`m considering buying the asus rt-n66u. When doing some research I have found multiple articles describing different ways of flashing this router with dd-wrt and each one of those articles says that if I dont follow exactly this i can brick the device. They are slightly different though.
I am getting confused a lot there.
What is the most recent way of flashing the rt-n66u? Do I have to still be mindful on which model I am buying?
Is it still a router you would buy today or would you consider something else instead?

I would buy it if I had a low budget, otherwise buy a router with a dual core ARM processor (as Kong has recommended). Or if you insist to run Optware buy some AC router with a Broadcom SOC. _________________ 2 times APU2 Opnsense 21.1 with Sensei

I already own one running the stock asus firmware and am looking to get some dd-wrt on it, and am having the same issue, doesnt seem most things have been updated for a year or so and I assume things have changed quite a bit.
Basically I'm looking for a guide to install for current builds, I've installed before but on routers where it is pretty simple, just find the right build and upload through the web ui.
