I have archer c7 v2. latest dd-wrt build. factory reset several times. I experience a strange wifi mode behavior. It does not matter what mode I set, doing a test after connecting pc or mobile phone shows I get only a or g mode on both frequencies. Painfully slow. I tried all possible settings from mixed to just AC or N, it does not matter, router wifi works only in a or g mode. Any idieas what can be wrong? Thanks
I already tried, spend all day setting it up, it does not matter what I set in wifi settings, the result is rubbish
Began to wonder maybe it is a hardware problem. I had dd-wrt on my router for several years, worked well, then began to lose connections, etc.

I get AC speed on the 5GHz band and N-speed on the 2.4GHz band. I have the same Archer C7 v2 (two of them actually). My settings are as per the recommended.
Reset to factory defaults (via the GUI). Then setup all of the wireless settings as per the wiki page. Do this right after changing the password (after resetting). _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I suggest reading it all.

Some dd-wrt wiki pages are up to date, others are not. PM me if you find an old one.

I could not make wifi work faster than G speed. I Reseted it several times, followed instructions on wiki. Any device connects only at G speed, mobile, pc, laptops, etc. Don't know what to do.

Seems suspicious...like your clients are older or something...
Can you provide more info about your settings, like actual screen captures (760 pixels wide please) of the 2.4 radio (and 5ghz settings)?
Just to confirm, you're only able to get 54 Mbit/s (31.4 Mbit/s) for a connection rate on 2.4ghz?
Are you sure you grabbed the right version of the firmware for your hardware version of the router? Also, are you running the latest version of DD-WRT on the router? This particular topic has been lingering for a while. _________________ FORUM RULES

yep do not use auto channel or mixed...
also it could be a bad flash, reset and reflash again, with any recommended build... _________________ Atheros

That one works well, even on early archer c7-v2.
In my notes...
Wireless security, key redos to 0
In wireless security custom config
multicast_to_unicast=1
That reload should fix the problem for up to 6 months if used as a router, or for longer used as an access point.
For my use, I loaded 35831, configured, made a backup and then saved the firmware and backup files locally. On the appearance of faults, then I,
re-load the firmware (even though it is same version)
hard reset
restore
Although it has worked well for a long time, mine chose to fault last week, with mostly unserviceable wifi. After reload, reset, restore (same code), it went right back to work, perfectly fine.
