I have a Actiontec MI424WR Router and I am trying to upgrade the firmware on it, though when I download either -- actiontec-mi424wr-firmware.bin or linux.bix -- on all Rev. I've tried and each time I try to upgrade I get the (Bad upgrade file signatures..)

Any Fix to this? Or Tutorial on how to upgrade the firmware if I am doing it wrong.

What you have said was not necessary. A I've read the Wiki and tried to Flash my router with a Windows Tool but it seems to fail each time.

Id like to bump this thread simply because I dont see any other information and all google searches lead here. I read the wiki which goes through the whole installation of dd-wrt through redboot but there is also a webflash version that you would expect would also work but comes up with what the OP said about bad signatures. Is there no use for the webflash version and should I just go through the whole redboot installation instead? Just figured it would be worth asking since it would be great if you could just webflash it.

Webflash method seems Hopelessat this point. I successfully flashed my Actiontec MI424WR Ver. D router last night using the Redboot method. Follow the instruction very carefully or you could be in for a long day. (If you are not familiar with using a command prompt, get some basic knowledge) Good luck!

thanks I followed everything but I am having an issue. Everything went smooth flashing redboot with cmd

Code:
C:\Python26>python jungo-image.py -d -p password1 192.168.1.1
Dumping flash contents (8MB) to MI424-WR-00180128CEB3.bin
99%

C:\Python26>python jungo-image.py -p password1 192.168.1.1 rb-mi424wr-ROM.bin
Unlocking flash...
Writing new image...
load -u http://192.168.1.3:8080/rb-mi424wr-ROM.bin -r 0
192.168.1.1 - - [21/Nov/2016 22:34:33] "GET /rb-mi424wr-ROM.bin HTTP/1.1" 200 -
Flash update complete!

But now I cannot telnet to the router at all the power light is orange but when connected to ports I get green lights on them. I attempted to reflash redboot and get

Code:
C:\Python26>python jungo-image.py -p password1 192.168.1.1 rb-mi424wr-ROM.bin
Unable to establish telnet session to 192.168.1.1: [Errno 10060] A connection attempt failed because the con
nected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because conne
cted host has failed to respond

any ideas?

EDIT: Not sure exactly what happened but for some reason I was able to connect to redboot via the lan port instead of the wan port even though I have rev.C and not D. I have the router up and running. Now to figure out how to set it up as a VPN server off of my modem. Thanks!
