There is no need to change builds. That is a great build for your router. If you want to change, make sure you have a reason. The process is at note 1 of the peacock. See note 4 too.
Any generic micro build will fit on your router. No mini or any other build though. Are you sure you downloaded the right file.
Only reason I want to change the firmware, is to try another (newer) version. To what the new firmware offers, and yes, primarily to play, learn, and experiment. It exercises my mind.
This is what I am trying to load " dd-wrt.v24_micro_generic.bin 2009-10-10 1,68 MB "
When I try to update through tftp: the router's power led flashes; I can't get the username/password screen. I can ping ( if I set up a static ip ). Then I have to reload the previous firmware, then all is well.
When I try to update through the Administration screen, " update Failed".

Well, since you want to exercise your mind, read the peacock announcement. You will find that your choice of builds is bad.
However, there is no good reason that horrible build should not load. See the process for flashing from dd-wrt in note 1 of the peacock. Re download (a better) micro bin file. Perhaps your download is corrupt. Also see note 11 for tftp process.
If you have dd-wrt already on the router, there is no reason a proper micro build will not flash, short of process error or hardware failure. _________________ I fix "shortcuts". If you don't have time to read thoroughly, I don't have time to re-type what you missed.
You will not find that much changes in functionality in the micro builds. Micro is, well, micro. If you wish to change, I would suggest 12874. I have used that one on the same router. Works dandy. But So did 12548. _________________ I fix "shortcuts". If you don't have time to read thoroughly, I don't have time to re-type what you missed.
