...end of story the beta is not to stable...or maybe its just a problem with the router it is old...
I've had trouble getting USB sharing over Samba to work properly on K2 r33607 (which has worked on the K3 r33607 build). I'm able to mount the drive but when I try to 'Add Share' from the Services -> NAS -> File Sharing section, the website hangs and is generally unresponsive until I power cycle the router (although I didn't really wait that long).
Far from definitive, but initial speeds tests with r33607 showed K3 twice as fast as K2 (330 vs 115) over WAN - worth noting mainly because I recall reading that K3 used a slower, generic driver than K2. _________________ -Thracx

I had similar success this week with r33607_NEWD-2_K3.x-big, although K3 builds require a reasonably complicated flashing process to get working which may not be worth it.
Can someone point me to the correct method to go from the k26 series to the k3x series as well as recommend a stable k3x build?

Link. I have since reverted to k26 because of an issue mounting USB, but it looks like 2 newer builds are available that I haven't tried yet (r33772 and r33986).
I cannot vouch for K3 being 'stable' on this router, but r33607 did work great for the few days that I used it. _________________ -Thracx

Thank you for the reply. It would seem that if stability is the primary goal, one should use the k26 series.
So...
1) Is KRACK patched on the k26 series?
2) Which build would you recommend for stability with a basic setup (no VPN, no USB, just 2.4 GHz and wired connectivity)?

Velcome. What are you seeking exactly? The K3 build I used was 'stable', I just wasn't able to use USB storage. But if you encounter any problems that require a soft reset (30/30/30), this soft bricks R3 builds on this router and you have to TFTP to fix - which is actually pretty easy, but does take longer (so just make sure you backup your settings).
In my simple opinion, K3 is the better option because it gave nearly twice the WAN throughput as I'm getting on K2 right now, and I'm pretty sure I need K3 to get OpenVPN working (maybe for KRACK too, I am not sure).
So weight your options and post back with how things go with whichever you decide _________________ -Thracx

I did not after reading warnings from other users against that/causing bricking. I only used the WebUI to reset the NVRAM or used the red button press for 30 seconds to do it.

Just take your time in doing THOROUGH and complete nvram flashes every single time you update. When in doubt, allow another five minutes
I finally figured out my problems were due to, voila, being in too much of a hurry. DD-WRT is a slow process, so to speak, not done instantly. _________________ I have been interested in DD-WRT for years but still consider myself a newb.
Current configuration:
Asus RT-N16
v3.0-r36808 big (08/30/18 )
Linux 3.10.108 #17150
Broadcom BCM4716 chip rev. 1
I can confirm that the 03-20-2018-r35452 build works perfectly. After performing some thorough testing, I've got it configured as an access point on my network. Performance is excellent in terms of range and throughput.
Followed the instructions and got DD-WRT v3.0-r35452 big (03/20/18) running after a few mis-steps. Read the directions carefully!
It seems to work fairly well, however most of my family has been complaining about the wireless since so it is not as stable as the stock firmware, have not had time to debug further. Have QOS and rflow disabled.
I did try running rflow but the device never emitted any rflow packets to the collector. Anyone know of any issues there?
