In my first ever endeavor into DD-WRT I followed these steps exactly and successfully flashed my DIR-601 A1. I am having an issue though.
I can connect to the internet/router through a wired connection but the wireless is not working. All I have done is set the SSID and turned on WPA-2. The SSID is broadcasting but if I try to connect, the connection fails.
Also, if I try to change the wireless channel the internet connectivity dies (can't access the internet via the wired connection) and I have to reboot the router to get the internet connection back.
My searching so far has not turned up any results. Any/all input will be greatly appreciated.
*edit* Just changed the wireless security algorithm to "AES" from TKIP and was able to connect wirelessly. I want to leave this post though because in all my searching I found 3 other people that were having a similar issue to me but never found an answer.
I still would like to know if it is advisable to upgrade to BrainSlayer's newest build?
I upgraded the firmware to 21286 and have been running 100% solid ever since 3 days ago (about 72+ hours). I would love to hear results from anyone running the 22118 build. Maybe BrainSlayer could provide us with some of the updates made to the 22118 build?
DD-WRT is giving me near identical wireless speeds to having a direct wired connection. A MAJOR improvement over the stock firmware and the DD-WRT firmare listed on the wiki. I must say, the DIR 601 running DD-WRT as of now is providing a fantastic experience and I couldn't ask for much more (other than that this stability remains for the long haul)
I want to give a major THANKS to BrainSlayer for continuing the updates for the 601 and you will definitely be receiving a donation from me soon (might not be much but I hope every little bit counts).
p.s. if there is another large thread for the 601 I should be posting this in please refer me on
I have a DIR-601. Want to flash it for bridging use. Got as far as "upload" (nb, not "upgrade") on the guidelines and after two warning screens, was told that the file (the "...bin") was not a firmware file.
