Some time ago I flashed DDWRT on my router to connect it as a client to a WPA2-ENT network for better connectivity. So far so good, recently however, my router seems to have trouble connecting to the network (idk maybe the Enterprise network kicks all client after a period of 1 day). When I tried to reconnect to the network automatically, I couldn't access the router page; I got the error that the address was unreachable. I got similar result when pinging the router. I always have to reset my router and restore it to the configurations I had before.
Since this behaviour started not too long ago, I'm starting to think it has something to do with turning my router off at times when it's not in use, but since I noticed it always happens after a period of 1 day I doubt that.
Appreciate any help!

What do you mean reset it?
There is a difference between reset and reboot.
You may have to reboot it, if it loses connections to the main router.
I would suggest putting a Connection watchdog in, say 300 or 1000 seconds, with the ip of the main router, or even just a DNS server. (Admin then Keep Alive Tab)

Make sure you are on the latest build, at this time 33772.
I hard reset it using the button on the router, meaning I got everything set back to factory settings. Btw, it just happened again: I remember resetting the router at the same time yesterday, and after exactly 24 hours I can't access the router page, since it says "address unreachable". Im running on 33555 at the moment, but I doubt that upgrading will solve my issue. (I say that because I had an older firmware before and just upgraded recently)
If you reset it, the ip address goes back to default of 192.168.1.1. It should ask you to change your username and password.
Whatever you do, do not upload a backup of the settings. Add in all of your settings manually, by hand.
I would still suggest upgrading, I know one of those relatively recent builds was not very stable, 33772 is. My routers are all >4 days uptime currently. _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I suggest reading it all.

Yes, I haven't changed the default of 192.168.1.1 and it does ask me for a new username and password. Any particular reason why I should enter all setting manually? Although I doubt that upgrading will change anything, I'll give it a go.

It is a bad idea to restore settings via a backup file because you are literally overwriting the current settings. It makes the reset useless. If you input the settings manually, then the at least part of the settings are still default (the ones you didn't change). _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I see your point, but the only setting that are saved in that backup file are the client log-in credentials.

Ok, well I did it this time setting it up manually and the problem still persists.
I have no problems with my 841ND V8. It is very stable, or at least just as stable as my Archer C7 v2 and my host of other routers.
Nothing can touch a DIR-615 E3 or C1 for uptime though, I had several of those not reboot for several months. If you want a stable router and don't mind sacrificing speed, one of those is the way to go. _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I offered a solution. Set up a Connection Watchdog on the router running dd-wrt. Admin - Keep Alive tab. Put in the ip of the main router and 300 or 1000 seconds. This will reboot the secondary router whenever it loses a connection to the main router. _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? Sorry, I misread the first post.
Set up the connection watchdog on the 841nd v8. Point it to either the modem or a dns server such as 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS) or 208.67.222.222 (OpenDNS). This will reboot the router if it loses connection to the internet. This is not necessarily the best way to do this. _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I suggest reading it all.
