Here's what I'm trying to do -- something that I've done many times without any problems -- until now.
I'm trying to setup a client bridge between two buffalo routers. The second buffalo is going to be replacing an existing wrt54g (12533) that is already configured in a client bridge.
The routers in question....
AP - Buffalo whr-hp-g300n (16994)
C/B - Buffalo whr-hp-g300n (16994 or 14929)
AP
MAC Filter*
C/B
Flash the router
Hard reset the router
Local ip - 192.168.1.8
subnet - 255.255.255.0
gateway - 192.168.1.4
local dns - 192.168.1.4
assign wan to switch - checked
ntp client - disabled (for now..)
dnsmasq - enable
local dns - disable
relay - disable
ses - disable
snmp - disable
sshd - disable
syslogd - disable
telnet - enable
ttraff - enable
firewall - disable
everything else is default.
*Even with the MAC Filter disabled, the pcs cannot connect to the router. If the second router is left as AP then the pcs connect just fine - so I'm thinking that it is dhcp related and not a hardware issue.
However, the c/b router is connecting and is visible under Wireless Nodes. If I enable mac filters and remove the entry for the c/b, then the router is no longer visible. Even though the router is visible, they cannot be pinged from each other. (telnet into each router and try to ping the other)
On two seperate pcs (win7 32/ win7 64), both report "Local Area Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration when the network connection is set to auto configure.
But, the linksys router is also setup in c/b and has no difficulty at all with connecting to the same AP. Also, every pc behind the linksys can see and be seen by the network....
I'd really appreciate some help with sorting this out.
