Since I have received a few requests to provide E3000 builds of my Kong Mod
http://www.myopenrouter.com/article/23842/DD-WRT-Kong-Mod-Info/

I created E3000 builds (r16625) this time. I cannot test them myself as I don't own such a unit. If someone is not afraid to brick his unit he can pm me and I'll provide the link to the E3000 build.

Once I have confirmation that someone was able to flash it the links go public.

The firmware flashed fine on my unit. Should I mount the drive to /mnt for DLNA functionality?

You can use /mnt, /jffs, opt it does not matter.
Just tell minidlna the paths to your files under:

"Services->NAS->DLNA-Server"

If you have lots of media files (>2500) you should set the DB Path to a location somewhere on your external media.

Otherwise minidlna will create the DB in RAM and that can cause trouble if the db gets too large.

Indexing time is around 1000files per min.

Note: Minidlna does not transcode(e.g. convert on the fly and send it to the client) if one of the files does not play on the client it is likely that the client does not support the codec. I have done tests with avi, mpeg, mkv, wmv, hd and sd movies

DLNA works wonderfully! Thank you.

This is probably independent of your mod, but the Tx errors on 2.4 seem a bit high. I am running N+G, WPA2+AES. Various transmit power levels (28, 40, 50, 71 seem to make no difference). Turning off CTS or Ack seems to make no difference either.

Wireless Packet Info
Received (RX)
6544 OK, no error
Transmitted (TX)
142949 OK, 1997 errors

OK, new to dd-wrt and I haven't flashed my e3000 yet. I do want to get this installed with it, but no idea how to do that. I know I have to flash the e3k version on it and then go from there(or am I wrong). How do I go about installing this on to my e3000 also?

For the ultimate safety for your chipset, check out (when you have time) the precautions and safety tips in this posting which is up to date.

Peacock Thread

Other than that, make sure you have flashed once with the trailed build, follow the 30/30/30 instructions before installing Kong Mod.

Good Luck, and read these links completely for the E3000 version only. Don't "brick" it.

Take care,

Jonathan

I recently installed the e3000 kong mod, and I am having major problems with the minidlna. Everytime I turn it on, within 5 min, the e3000 crashes. I have been able to get everything else going, ie. VPN, usb storage, etc. Any ideas?? In the time it does work, all dlna devices on network do see the media server, of course until it crashes. I have been able to play music till the crash happens.

Also, for the life of me, the server will NOT finish scanning all files. For my music folder, it only scans about 25 files, and it won't scan any futher. I also have a video folder, that will only scan/show 4/15 files. My pictures folder will not display anything. It seems to me to be all related.

So confused...

I am trying to setup the E3000 as a media server. Do you mind sharing teh setup screen.

I will be willing to test and share my experience.

My content is on a NAS device (not USB) that is hardwired to the router.
