Hello, after a successful dd-wrt.v24 presp2 2009-10-10 install on my Linsys wrtg54 v8.0 I wanted to go back to factory settings. I followed the wiki's instructions and the vxworksrevert was sucessful and I was able to see a management screen after the power cycle.

When I tried to upload the factory firmware WRT54Gv8_v8.00.0_fw it uploaded 2% then the page crashed on me. I attempted a hard reset and power cycle and wasn't able to go back into the web gui. After trying to ping it the response was destination host unreachable.

I do not wish to perform a JTAG so is the only option left to purchase a new router?

First, I do not have that particular router. I am going on information I see posted in this forum.
However, as mentioned under "Notes on challenges" toward the bottom of this page:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linksys_WRT54G_v8.0_%26_v8.2
if your router is responding to ping requests with a TTL of 100 you should be able to upload a new firmware with TFTP.
The Wiki for TFTP is here:
