Linksys WRT54GS 5.1 internet issues

hey,
i am running dd-wrt v 23 sp2 on a WRT54GS v5.1
I have just noticed than when i connect to the internet through the router i am getting an internet speed reduction of over 600%

i have a practical download speed of 1 mg a second directly connect which drops to 200-300 kbps through my router. also it constantly requires rebooting
i have implemented the increased memory change and have allso set hte clock frequency to 216 to fix known issues with that.
any help would be appreciated.

You aren't using the QOS, are you?
I have seen some posts that claimed QOS not to be working properly.

Did you check if your CPU load is 100% or something?

If there are set queuing disciplines and traffic classes which can limit the inet traffic.

(there should be 2 prio qdiscs)

How did you get your v5.1 to 216. Do you find it speeds it up?

i followed the information in the wiki regarding the issue
i telneted to the router, and use nvram or whatever the command was
set clkfrq=216 (not sure on the spelling i followed exactly as in the wiki)

but it did not work,
io am 100% sure it is the router as if i plug my pc directly to the modem i get 100% speed. and no packet loss.
however if i go through the router cabled . i get about 1 10th of the speed and start getting packet loss

allso

Top returns -sh: top: Not found

and the other one returned

Fairly important i get this sorted as i can't fork out them oney for a new router right at the moment. :\

I have a similar problem, except I get a roughly 500% reduction in internet speeds when on the wireless, but when I plug directly in to the linksys with v23SP2, I get normal/full speed communication as when I plug directly into the cable modem itself.

Okay, so I seemed to have resolved the problem, but i'm not sure which of the many changes I made actually did the trick (didn't have the time to individually disable each one).

The wireless-related changes I did under the wireless>basic settings/advanced settings tab(s) were:

-Sensitivity/Ack timing - set at 8000 (default is 2000)
-Manually set transmission rate at 54mbps
-Manually set basic rate to "all"
