Greetings

I just noticed that CIFS (Common Internet File System) is now a supported mount option in DD-WRT.

How and why would a home user want to implement this?

From reading on it - this looks to be a sharing protocol ACROSS the internet.

Thanks

I believe CIFS is used on USB hard drives attatch to a router with an NAS UBS port. Turning this on would automatically mount the drive at startup and share it across the network. By default, the drive is not exposed to the internet, as that would not be wise, like you say. I too am a noob, and hope a more in depth explaination by someone smarter than me. Good Times
