I just ordered a FxN2100F to play with. I've read the wiki and some other sites about the FxN's hardware specs. Most show 8mb flash, but there were suggestions that some have only 4mb. Is there any way to tell?

Thanks.

I just installed the "Stable" v24 on my FON router, but it still shows up as "DD-WRT v24 Beta (08/03/07) std
(SVN revision 7603)" beta.

Is this an error, or have they not released the final version of v24 for FON yet?

It looks like you didn't install the firmware you thought you did.

Actually, I did.

I downloaded the stable version for the download section to my desktop and installed it. Just to be sure, I also downloaded the one from the v24 directory, and had the same results.

Has anyone else run into this or know why the final version is not available for download right now?

It looks like they created two folders with v.24 for some reason..
http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/down.php?path=downloads%2Fv24%2FAtheros+WiSoc%2FFonera/
http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/down.php?path=downloads%2Fstable%2Fdd-wrt.v24%2FAtheros+WiSoc%2FFonera/

Well anyway, find out which one you downloaded from, and try downloading from the other. I personally downloaded from the second link and have the correct "DD-WRT v24 (05/14/08) std - build 9509M" on my F*nera.

As I stated before, I downloaded BOTH of those images, and had the same result with each. After your post, I just downloaded this:

http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/stable/dd-wrt.v24/Atheros%20WiSoc/Fonera/fonera-firmware.bin

When I upgraded, I set it to go to factory defaults, but still had v24 beta. I even went in and did a factory defaults all by itself, and still only have v24 beta. This is the exact text in the upper right hand corner:

Firmware: DD-WRT v24 Beta (08/03/07) std

Oh sorry, I didn't read your post carefully then Mad

Try the telnet method then, with linux.bin, while erasing everything but the RedBoot using the command "fis init -f" first, then flashing.

So, which version do you all recommend to use with a Fonera 2100/2200?

Currently I'm on DD-WRT v24 RC-5 (11/23/07) std (SVN revision 8426M).

Worked well for 70 days until recently, but now I'm starting to get disconnected a couple of times a day.

Any suggestions on what version to upgrade too?

I know there is a stable version of DD-WRT out there, but does it perform well on a Fonera router? Tell me your version experience!

And btw, should the 'Site Survey' (Neighbor's Wireless Networks) work on my version? Cause nothing appears in the list.

I'd use the latest stable version (v24-sp1 as of writing) - be sure to flash through redboot though. An upgrade through the webgui is not possible from versions < RC7 to current firmware releases!

Well, yeah I must have had the Fonera connected wired to the WRT54GS network. It doesn't seem to work in client bridged or client mode. The computer is unable to obtain an ip address once the cable has been removed from the Fonera. It works fine when the cable is plugged in, but then that kinda defeats the purpose of it being a repeater.

Hi everyone,
i've flashed La fonera 2100/2200 0.7.1 r1 and all goes fine.
I need to connect la fonera to a wrt54gs (dd-wrt flashed) in client mode or client bridge.
Both the devices (AP and fonera) are in mixed mode (b+g).
Both the devices are on the same channel.
The fonera has the right SSID and WPA2 password.
The status ---> wireless tab of the fonera say "Successfully joined the $ssid" but it's false.
The Pc wire connected to the fonera don't surf the net and the iwconfig on the fonera declares the device "Not associated".

I've spend 3 night across this problem but last night i've tried to enable the "short preamble" on the fonera (client mode) and all is working now.

The AP wrt54gs firmware is v24-sp2
The Fonera client mode firmware is v.24-sp1 072608

I've tried to enable the short preamble because:

-Unless you have 802.11b (1 or 2Mbits/sec) client radios in your system, there's no need for a long preamble. The default for most access points is "automatic". It only enables long preambles when associated with a 1 or 2Mbit/sec client radio.[0]

and i want more transfer rate in LAN mode.

Plus, the ddwrt howto suggests to disable the short preamble.[1]

Now my question is: why long preamble forbids the Fonera/AP association?
