I'm struggling to get dd-wrt running on my new DIR-868L rev B1.

The database says that only rev C1 is supported but I've seen people talk about having success with both rev A1 and B1.

My router is fresh out of the box running FW 2.00 - but every time I try and flash the factory-to-ddwrt firmware, it just says "Firmware Upgrade failed"

What version should I be installing? And am I right in thinking that I just need to flash from the admin menu on the router?

Thanks!

what version have you been trying?
Try this:
ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2015/12-10-2015-r28493/dlink-dir868l-revb/factory-to-ddwrt.bin

v3.0-r29519 runs great on the d-link 868L B1. Initially had poor throughput compared to stock firmware, particularly on my iPhone 6s. Turned out this was caused by my double NAT setup. Changed to single NAT setup (dd-wrt router on the same subnet as my ISP modem) and now the throughput is great. I'd recommend this EUR 90,- router with dd-wrt on it to everyone. Great cost/feature/performance ratio.
