I have tried flashing this thing a few times and it always bricks and sits there and flashes the power led and I have to do a hard reset.

First thing I did was a hard reset as specified in the instructions. I then tried flashing it with the factory-to-ddwrt firmware. Rebooted, bricked, hard reset.

Just for the heck of It I tried the process again and used to 1900ac-webflash firmware and had the same result.

I was able to reflash the router with its own freshly downloaded firmware from Linksys, so I know the unit "can" be flashed.

I have struggled with TFTP and cant ever get it to do anything besides say that it cant find the router.

The bottom of the unit does not say V2 at the end, so I am out of ideas : (

I have a wrt1900ac v1 and do not have any issues installing. Make sure you are grabbing the correct file and for the intial flash use the.img file.

According to Yemble some folks have issues with flashing DD-WRT onto their wrt1900ac v1 with the latest firmware. From another post here is what he recommends:
The latest official version is: v1.1.10.167514
The version I recommend is: v1.1.8.164461

Not sure where you get the 1.1.8 version as I have never needed it. Might be worth a try since some folks say using the older version works while the most current doesn't.

I concur. If you want guaranteed success flashing from stock to DD-WRT on the v1, then you should downgrade stock to v1.1.8 first. I would also recommend a factory reset prior to your first flash.

Also, ONLY flash via a LAN connection, never over WiFi.
