I recently decided to re-incorporate this router in my home network as the router facing the lan (chained with another newer wi-fi router RT-N56u)
I have Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (11/02/09) std
I am only using it on the LAN side (WiFi disabled)

1. Is there any security reason why using this router in this day and age would not be a good idea? The latest firmware is very old and I am concerned there may be exploits not resolved in this router
2. Is there a setting for hnap? I would like to disable it per some internet comments.

It probably doesn't matter, especially if its not your gateway, unless you're concerned about LAN exploitation, and it also depends on what features you use (e.g. VPN, ssh, etc).
That said, it would be a good idea to at least upgrade to the standard recommended 14929 build though, or some other recommended build like 27858.
As for #2, I don't know, but from a quick search the concern about it looks like bull-#2. Razz
