It probably doesn't matter, especially if its not your gateway, unless you're concerned about LAN exploitation, and it also depends on what features you use (e.g. VPN, ssh, etc).
That said, it would be a good idea to at least upgrade to the standard recommended 14929 build though, or some other recommended build like 27858.
As for #2, I don't know, but from a quick search the concern about it looks like bull-#2.
