Hello!

Been out of the loop for a few years.
What's the most recent but stable (ie. set it and forget it) dd-wrt firmware release for TP-Link Archer C5 v1.20?

I have 2 Archer C7 v2 which I believe is similar hardware. Both are running the latest build at this time, 30880. It is stable. Just read the build threads, such as this one: http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=305539

And the svn timeline: http://svn.dd-wrt.com/timeline

Other users will tell you that older builds are more stable, but remember older builds are also lacking bug fixes and security patches.

Hi! Thanks for the suggestion.

Would this be the right firmware for my router?

ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2016/11-14-2016-r30880/tplink_archer-c5-v1/

How do I install the firmware?
I'm asking because I see many different files in the folder above, and last time I used DD-WRT was on a trusty old WRT54GL following the peacock thread. Very Happy

You need the factory-to-dd-wrt file to go from Factory firmware (TP-Link in this case) to dd-wrt. The US at the end is for TP-Links sold in the US, the IL is for TP-Link sold in Israel, no US or IL is the international version, for everyone else.

Once the router is running dd-wrt, you can flash the other file with just the router's name in it, watch the IL/US/none issue stated above.

If you are still running TP-Link firmware and bought the router in the US, use this first: ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2016/11-14-2016-r30880/tplink_archer-c5-v1/factory-to-ddwrt-US.bin

Then this for subsequent dd-wrt upgrades: ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2016/11-14-2016-r30880/tplink_archer-c5-v1/tplink_archer-c5-v1-US.bin

Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r30880 std (11/14/16)

Up and running perfectly on my TP-Link AC1200 Archer C5 v1.20

Thanks @ian5142 for pointing me to relevant files.
I followed the peacock thread and did all the hard resets. Don't know if that's needed on Atheros units, but my WRT54GL muscle memory said I better follow the "old skool" routine to avoid complications. Very Happy

Hi,
I was able to apply dd-wrt fw v3.0-r30880 std (11/14/16) but from here I can do nothing.
I can't upgrade back to stock firmware.
I did 30-30-30 reset,factory reset,GUI fw upgrade without success.
Router still has dd-wrt fw.
I'm suspecting that there is a problem with a storage in a router.
I saw somewhere the way for upgrade by using wget command to /tmp partition.
I tried to get the fw file by wget command as well.
Here the response(it is returning the prompt, but file is not here:
root@DD-WRT:/tmp# wget http://thesen.eu/files/tplink_mod.bin
I also tried to upload file directly from my PC,it is creating file with 0 size.
Here what df -k is showing:
root@DD-WRT:~# df -k
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
rootfs 12928 12928 0 100% /
/dev/root 12928 12928 0 100% /

So for me absolutely not clear how wget was working for others.
Appreciate if somebody can suggest me how can I now install tplink_mod.bin fw now or revert back to TP-LINK factory wf?

Look in the thread labeled files for reverting to stock firmware. It's at the top of this forum.

Malachi,thanks a lot.
I was able to revert it to stock firmware and I reverted my router C5 v.1.20 to C7 v.2 (using ArcherC7v2_webrevert file).
The procedure was:
1.Revert from C5 latest firmware to dd-wrt (factory-to-ddwrt.bin):from dd-wrt.com: Downloads › betas › 2016 › 11-14-2016-r30880 › tplink_archer-c5-v1.
Installed by using 30-30-30 reset method.
2.After that I tried to install using web GUI the following firmware:http://thesen.eu/files/tplink_mod.bin.
Here I'm not sure about the results.
I mean I didn't identified any changes after "applying" tplink_mod.bin(may be this firmware was not applied at all).
There is the possibility that this step is not needed.
3.After that I checked /tmp folder and found the following:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 23 Jan 1 01:00 ath10k-board.bin -> /tmp/archerc7-board.bin
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2116 Jan 1 01:00 archerc7-board.bin

From here by using Malachi recommendation I reverted my router to stock fw (webrevert),and not fw for C5 v.1.20 but to fw for C7 v.2 and it was successful.
I was able also to upgrade the router to latest C7 v.2 fw from tp link site by using web GUI.
