I want to install DD-WRT, but I also want to back up my existing firmware or be able to revert back if necessary. Does anybody know how to backup or revert back?
Second, if you inadvertently flash both partitions with DD-WRT, there is no flash back to stock yet that I know of, you would have to do something like this,
http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1059244 (the 11th post down) if you don't have a USB to TTL cable.
Third, I would wait until the next wireless driver comes out, supposed to be sometime this month, you can watch for it here https://github.com/kaloz/mwlwifi
and watch svn.dd-wrt.com after it is released to see when brainslayer updates it, then wait for a new release of DD-WRT with the update included in it.
You can read through this post to see the wireless issues it currently has http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=304086
Fourth, Linksys isn't owned by Cisco anymore, Belkin owns them. The Wiki isn't updated regularly, as is the router database, you can find the firmware downloads here ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2017/ _________________ Tutorial for flashing WRT series WRT Installation,Upgrade & Basic Setup–Cliff Notes

No 30/30/30 reset required on the WRT series of routers. In fact no needed on any of the newer routers. The reset button on back of router does the job and I have seen comments by others of bricking their router doing the 30/30/30 reset.

I do not own a wrt3200acm, however there are lots of reports of wireless instability on the wrt3200acm. The end of this month a new wireless driver is supposed to be made available by Marvell. Hopefully this new driver will improve the wireless stability of the wrt3200acm. It took Marvell about 2 years to get the support for 3rd party folks for the wrt1900acx. They are not the fastest in support.
Until then you might want to stay with the Linksys firmware if it is doing what you want.
You said, "Just be sure to keep Linksys in the alternate partition." How do you distinguish between partitions? Don't you just select the "Upgrade Firmware" button and point to the new FW?
Also, can you document your steps and how I would revert back to stock FW?
I wanted to know if ddwrt is already stable on the 3200acm modell. I have looked in the link provided above with the current issues and for me, as noob, it doesn't sound good.
It can also be that these guys speak about completely different stuff than I would need.
I need only working WLAN with a higher range. No vpn or multiple access points or anything else.
Is it safe to flash (For a noob), or should I wait?
Thank you
Absolutely stable. Sure some features are still WIP but dd-wrt FW is great. I was ready to throw out my 3200acm on stock FW. It was absolutely crappy.
Go ahead and give dd-wrt a spin. You won't regret it.
Just make sure you keep one partition on Linksys FW.

Also, if new to the wrt series of routers be sure to read the thread in my sig, especially the second post.
Just to add to what myersw posted.
The latest build to which myersw refers is build r32402 posted by BrainSlayer 06-16 at 07:05 am.
It is a test build not yet included on the Betas download page.
The link to that specific post with the file download is
